XGA versus SXGA on a 14" screen...?

Has anyone experience of using both resolutions...?
I like the idea of SXGA but am concerned that the font size might tire the old eyes?
Can you increase the font with SXGA and retain the clarity..?
Thanks!

You can change the font size on everything in Wndows XP.
Also I have seen sxga and even with my glasses wearing eyes it seemed easy to read.

Go with the highest res you can afford. You can always run at lower should you decide to do so at later date, but never higher. Ditto on the large fonts, but images (e.g. webpages) will still be smaller.

^^^ Really? From reading this site I thought it caused problems going down in rez on a uxga lcd. I am very close on ordering the nc8000 and have decided on opting for the sxga+WVA instead of the uxga+WVA because the text would be so small on the UXGA. Is it true that you can change the font size and get good quality on the uxga+WVA? Would I be making a mistake only going sxga+WVA or should I opt for the uxga=wva for only $75 more?

You don't WANT to run at lower resolution though. It's going to look bad.

What's SXGA? 1440x...? Cuz that's what I have on my own notebook with a 15" screen and the text is quite a bit smaller than I'm used to. With that resolution on a 14" it might be unbearable ;D.

The reason you can't "simply lower the resolution" later is cuz with LCDs, if you don't have the display at its native resolution, lines become somewhat blurred up, which you don't want.

sxga+ on a 14" is just barely acceptable to me. It's pretty small, but I think you get used to it after a short time (the extra real estate is VERY nice). 1024x768 on a 14" is really just too big (waste of space) - if I had to choose between the two I would definitely go with the sxga+. You can always bump up the font sizes to ease the transition

I think the perfect size for me would be sxga+ on a 15". However 14" is passable and once you get used to it, but it is on the small side.

I just got an IBM T41 with sxga+. My old laptop was a Dell Latitude with a 14" XGA screen.

Are you comfortable with 14" or do you feel it's too small, too big...?

I ask because it was hard for me to find a 14" when I was looking, anything I saw was either 12 or 15... just wondering if it was because 14 was an awkward size.
