I'll pickup 1 gig of memory and throw it in there. It is only going to get used for internet surfing, a little photoshop work, and some working at home on Word, Excel, and Power Point; so it should be able to meet my needs. The only regret is that I missed upgrading to XP pro. I would have liked to be able to network with my home desktop. I thought I had checked it off, but when I looked at my order on Monday I saw I was only getting XP Home. I called and tried to change it, but it was too late.
Does anyone know what HP's turnaround time usually is for getting these built and shipped?
Go for 2 gig... you WILL thank me www.newegg.com
Machine will run better (duh), You'll get LONGER battery life (since the machine will not be "hitting" the hard drive for the page file)... and you can SAVE several GIG of disc space by using a VERY SMALL FIXED PAGE FILE:
For the type of memory it uses: http://www.crucial.com/index.asp
HP's turnaround time? Well I placed a order for a dv8000t on the 2 thru www.costco.com with a projected SHIP date of the 12th..... it was built by the 7th, arrived on the 10th by 8:30am direct from the HP factory in CHINA.
