SENNHEISER HD 280Pro

Hi

I was thinking of ordering a SENNHEISER HD 280Pro $80 on newegg. I was wondering how this compares to other headphones in terms of sound quality and comfort. I need these head phones to be confortable for a VERY long time, 6+ hours. I did not find many people talking about this set of headphones. Only a bit at the start of the headphones thread. Is there any reason why? The headphones will be connected to a Sound Blaster audigy 2 sound card. I will be using it for music and games. When ever i'm not playing games, I'm listening to music. Would this be a good purchase in the $50-$100 range? Any help would be great. Thanks

I've had a pair of HD-280pros for well over a year now and I absolutely love them. Im not a real audiophile but I listen to alot of music and play alot of games and these sound awesome! When I first bought them the fit around my head was a little tight. I removed the extra padding around the top and now they fit great.

The only other issue I have with them is that after about a year of almost every day usage the plastic casing around the top of the headphones started to break and fall apart. (sorry no cam for pictures) Besides that there still going strong! When I first bought them I was a bit skeptical at paying $80 for a pair of headphones, but I must say that looking back it was definetely a good decision.

Also a quick tip if you do decide to buy them, or any other over the ear headphones. When you get them make sure and break them in. Just throw on some decently loud music and let them run overnight. The next day they will sound a million times better.

Yup, probably one of the best pair of cans in the $50-100 range.

The 280's are sweet. I've had a pair for a little more than a year and I love them. If you're a bass head you might take a look at the beyrdynamic dt770's. You can also take a look at the sony mdr - v6 aka mdr v7506. If you want somemore suggestions and discussion about good head phones swing by head-fi.org.

As mentioned above the HD280Pros are some of the best value for the money you will find for near that price. I do monitoring both on stage and in my studio on them with no problem.

Recently got these headphones, they rock. Bass is just right, though a little lacking in the rap department. It's the best bang for the buck on my list, and it also makes the top 10 on headphone.com

Got a pair of these from the school I went to for Recording Arts (Full Sail in Orlando.) At first, I hated them and thought they were uncomfortable but after keeping em on for extended headphone mix sessions, found that what I heard in the ears translated well to our studio monitors fairly well. What they say about being light on the bass is right but I would rather be lighter on bass than full-on blasting my ears out with loudness-augmented crap. For the price, these phones sound great and so far havent caught a single scratch (even after being in my bag for half a year.)

Durable, clean sounding (for headphones/price range). Go with em.

I've had mine for 2 years now. Had to send them back to Sennheiser twice for free warranty repair, the ends of the headbands cracked, it is a progressive problem, cracks appear every now and then & get bigger, eventually the bottom inch of the headband cracks off, piece by piece.

I now have the bottom 2 inches or so if the headband heavily taped with black electric tape and that seems to keep the headphones very strong and the cracking has been stopped I think. I taped them up right after getting them repaired the last time, so they should last me a few years I hope.

I'd check out the Sennheiser HD215, HD25, or Sony 7506 next if my 280s were lost.

Sound is good, flat, although I'd prefer a ltlle more bass. Isolation and comfort is good, but they do look big & dorky. I've seen the 280s used by movie sound techs. I use them for DJing so the isolation is a good thing.

Woah! People are still posting on this thread! lol, I made my decision about 2 months ago to buy some Sennheiser 555's and i could never be happier. What made me go for these were the ear cups. I figured 50$ would go along way seeing as how I'll most likely be using them for the next 7 or 8 years
But yeah, Thanks for all the posts

Had a set for 2+ years, never cracked, never broken. I've fallen asleep with them on hundreds of times and they are the only set of cans I've ever thought of making love to.

100 bucks well spent.
