Well, i initially made this account for search, but, i feel the need to contribute...
i'm sick and on nyquil at the moment, so bare with me

so, once you've managed to be able to view your HPA partition (i did after completley destroying all data on my HD 3ish hours ago, view it in windows, 1.41GB and unpartition the data (using manage in my computer)
i did this with paremove.exe and the hiren boot cd
DO NOT TRY TO FORMAT ANYTHING...you will screw up as i did because it makes some...error.

after this, extract the media direct 2.0 cd ANYWHERE
from it remove C:\DELLKIT\DellKit\removedriveletter.exe
then, run dellkit.exe
it should freeze
ok, so now you have drive X:\
run both XPEI1.exe and XPEI2.exe
viola, it's installed
feel free to add anything (as previously recommended, add taskmanager)
your drive is editable until your restart (i edited boot.ini to use 512MB of ram)

ok, start media direct and press ctrl alt delete and run explorer
install kazaa mega codec pack or whatever you wish to use
hurrah, that works
and install whatever else you want, doesn't matter what...though most everything else is useless

anyway, that was a bitch to do and i'm going to pass out within a few seconds...

in retrospect, it doesn't boot that fast and isn't worth it...i wish i still had my data...

Wow nice job. I'm a little confused though, since you're unwell...

Does MD2.0 not load as fast now from a cold boot? Is that what you're saying?

well, it' loads fine i guess, takes about 30 seconds from pressing the button
but it just doesn't seem worth it any more
it is pretty though...
i wonder what happens if i put msconfig on it and try to optimize the startup
...i'll do that right now

well, i'm obviously a fool
DO NOT SET YOUR RAM TO 512MB
otherwise, when you're done setting it up as you want it (i disabled all the internet-like options, instlaled catalyst drivers, kazaa lite mega codec pack, and disabled most of the startup)
it starts/runs pretty fast since it's hybernation
but don't forget to restart using task manager so that your new settings take effect.

I changed my RAM size & now media direct is not booting. How to deal with this. When i update my bios also dell media direct gets corrupt. Herz is another essential link on it. http://forum.notebookreview.com/show....php?p=2439878
