P100-SD8 (PSPA6C-SD802E)

17" Widescreen 1280x800
2 GHz Core Duo
2 GB RAM 667 MHz
120 GB HD 5400 RPM
Geforce 7900 GS 256 MB
DL DVD Burner
Media Card Reader
Harmon Kardon Speakers
Full-Size Keyboard

If anyone has this laptop please let me know any problems you have with it or praise it. Also, I'm about to purchase another laptop and I can't seem to find any laptops that come close to these specs in this price range. If anyone knows any similar laptops please let me know.

Look for the reviews of the P105-s921 in the review section. It's that US version of a very similarly spec'ed laptop (exact same GPU). That should help you get an idea of what to expect from this canadian one you're looking at.

well it's a great spec , and the toshiba p100/105 series are very good looking laptops ^^ and yeah you can check reviews for other p100 laptops , one thing that's weird about this canadian spec is the screen is lower resolution then the american specs , they get either 1440x900 or 1680x1050

Yes, I find it quite interesting that the res on the screen is so low... I don't think it'll be terrible that way, but for such a large screen, it might be annoying. But it seems the pay off is the faster CPU, since the US P105s for $2000 get the 2400 1.83GHz.

actually the new p105 model now has the 2500 2ghz , 2gb 667ram and a 200gb 4200rpm hd and bluetooth for 2000$ , the canadian model got a 5400rpm hard drive which is nicer but no bluetooth (not a huge loss and u can get a usb bluetooth for like 10$ ^^)
but yeah the lower resolution isn't that terrible , personally am not a fan of high resolutions , it'll also mean running games at a lower native resolution will give you better frame rate.

I'm used to using 1680 x 1050 on a 15.4" display. I hope 1280 x 800 on a 17" display doesn't kill me.

I pretty sure it won't life threatening to you. But the frustration may drive you to off somebody that comes to talk to you at the wrong time .

But seriously, I'd suggest you go down to a local computer shop and take a look at some other latops with that size & resoltion screen (regardless of the brand, you just want to get a feel for the resolution & amount of space) and see what you think of it. We could all give you our opinions of it, but what's really going to matter in the end is your own.
