I just got an aurura m9700 - Page 2

3500 for a used desktop with no monitor? I wouldn't.

you won't get 3500.
cpu-500 $
ram-350 $
dual 7800 gtx-800 $
harddrives-100 $
cd drive-80 $ so thats
thats 1830 but theres no motherboard or anything. I don't think you'll get 2500 $ for it, you'll need to put in like photoshop cs2, ms xp pro, and a monitor or something. Also, nijab, go onto www.alienware.com before you order anything thats an alienware off of ebay. I'm not picking out alienware, i mean everything. Like if your going to buy a dell off of ebay, then you go onto www.dell.com to see the specs, shipping date, if the seller has something listed wrong like he says "This laptop has 6800 ultra. That means the 2 x 256 mb 6800 ultras =512 mb of total memory." Thats not true, in Sli or Crossfire you don't combine the memory. Anyways, i think you get my point.

I guess I wasn't very specific...there is a motherboard on the thing as well as windows xp professional and any other little bells and whistles alienware sent with it. Plus the thing is only four months old...so really...??? Not even 3000? Oh and it has the liquid cooling system and alien ice video cooling.

Well, heres what happened:
First i sent him $1800, then i was going to send him $1050. Ebay sent me a lettter saying he was illigit, so I made a claim on the $1800 through paypal almost immediately. Then, he aggreed to refund the $1800 and spoke to ebay.

Later, ebay sent me a letter saying that after further investigation, they would like to make a reinstatement about the seller, and that in fact he was legit and I could rebid on his items. So, I believed them, and I rebid on the laptop, and he accepted, and I sent the $1800 and $1050 (we had agreed on $2700 for the laptop, with $150 for shipping).

So after i didn't recieve a laptop from fedex, and he stopped replying, i made a claim on both amounts, and realized how stupid I was for trying to get the laptop earlier than everyone else.
Plus, considering my first payment of $1800 is still pending and will probably get rejected, I'm at $1800+$1800+$1050 of a loss. Yep $4650 USD of loss for me.

The verdict so far, is I filed it with the FBI fraud organization, fraud.org, ebay, paypal, and VISA.
Paypal says their going to cover a whole $100 from the transaction. VISA says their going to investigate it within 30-60 days and possibly help me out.

I know, I'm such an idiot...

You should have come to the forums before you ordered.

get your money back and order one of these bad boys from alienware.com. sound like they are cheaper on the web site then what you paid

Sorry to heare about your bad luck In all honesty, we all take risks when you buy something online/from ebay. there is always a chance we might get burned.

Sorry about your situation, I hope things get resolved quickly.

Nuts & Bolts...you got screwed!

Good luck Najib, that sucks majorly. Good luck on getting your cash back. You have to do some research on ebay to make sure your not getting screwed. It seems Alienware systems are notorious about being made into scams on ebay.

Ouch that sucks man. But honestly you had too many clues in front of you to know this guy was a scammer, his neg. feedback was enough to give it away. I hope you get your money back, if you paid via paypal using your credit card, call your CC company and ask them to do a reversal immediately because it was a scam. Hopefully they can do a chargeback and get your money back for you.

You guys (and girls) are great first of all.

I had checked the alienware.com site and, and that indicated it was released a long time ago, but I hadn't yet used these forums.
Actually, one day before I paid, I started using these forums- but I had read that people already had the m9700 and had no idea what the "phases" were. Later I realized they didn't *ship them* yet.
So yeah, lesson learned. Thanks a lot for all your responses guys; I'll definitely be getting much more involved in these forums (and not just the alienware part).
And although I may never be getting my money back I will post back if anything exciting happens.

And it's sad, but if they only agree to give me the $2850 USD back to my account instead of the $4650, then I might be forced to get a Dell XPS m1710 instead of the alienware m9700

Thanks again,
-najib

Sad that you'd lose your money but the M1710 is an awesome machine.
