ND6500 in 700M Firmware Question

I've been running the 700m with the NEC Internal DVD Burner for awhile. I've tried updating the FW so that I can burn 16x disks to no avail. I always run into issues with it reading disks or simply not being acknowledged and I have to restore a previous FW. Has anyone successfully update their FW To allow for using 16x disks. If so, can you point me to the FW You used?

Any Help Appreciated.

isn't the nec a 8x burner only like the 6650 ?

Have you tried unofficial firmware already. I use regionfree firmware on my 6650 (you need to flash the firmware in a slave of a pc however. Otherwise you might ruin your drive.
