Missing Space

Hi, I ordered my laptop with 80 gb, but it says that there are only 68.4 gb available on my drive. Am I getting cheated from this? I think I read about a similar problem before; should I call Dell and get a replacement or something like that?

with their recovery partition, and media-direct functionality, youre note getting cheaped out of anything

yeah, 80,000,000,000 bytes is really more like 74.5GB or something (them hdd manufacturers do that with the base 2 system), then about 5GB or something is a hidden partition made by dell to put the system restore stuff. then there's like a 50MB partition, which really doesnt take up much space.

Just format it and delete those extra partions. That will get rid of the bloat ware. Be careful if you want to keep Media Direct. I don't need it. I deleted that partition.
