I9300 fan and heatsink cleaning *photo guide*

A couple of people pm'd me requesting a guide like this cause i said i would make one so this just goes to show that i wasn't bluffing. most of the detail in this guide is aimed towards the cleaning and not the assembly. for assembly instructions refer to the dell docs. i still took pictures of my progress with the de-construction of my laptop for people who were too lazy to look that stuff up. lets get started here.

First thing u gonna need is tools. I forgot to take a picture of my canned air but that really doesn't need to be photo'd.

This is the back of my lappy which is where u start by removing the battery, cd drive, hard disk and disconnecting the wireless and u must remove the battery first. Observe how i cleverly use bits of post it notes to conceil my identity. MSPAINT is a tool of the past *snarl*

Hey, where'd my hinge cover go?

Bye Bye my little UXGA screen and my keyboard.

Lets disconnect those cables and take out all of those screws. stupid CMOS battery has to be attached to the chasis.

Aww man i have cool bed sheets.

My lappy is naked. mods can put some censorship bars up here if need be cause that is some sexy hardware.

Check out my gpu fan. See that piece of hair and fuzz on the left side of my fan. that is blocking the airflow to my heatsink which isn't cool. this is easily remedied by simply removing the fan.

OH NOES!!!!! MY FAN IS EATING THE Q-TIP (product placement) ok really first start off by just taking u canned air to blow out all of that nasty stuff. i like to take moist q tips the get out as much dust as possible cause everything left in the fan eventually gets in the heatsink which means no airflow. *insert mckulley culken? impression here*. next step is just to blow out everything from the heatsink and you are done with the gpu.

Ewws!!! That was on my heatsink. that cant be good. moist Q-tip to the rescue.

Check out the gunk on my cpu heatsink. thank god i bought the 3-pack of q-tips. i just need to remove all of the exterior stuff with q-tips and then air dust it out.

Although u can't see my cpu fan i actually cleaned it in the exact same fashion as my gpu fan so just check that part out for how to clean that. there was even more hair and gunk on my cpu fan than my gpu fan so make sure to check it out too. Wow check out my northbridge heatsink.

I'm not joking look at that monster!!!!!!!!!

I put this reconstruction photo in here cause at this point in assembling my lappy i thought of that song from episode 8 of pure pwnage, lanageddon, where they had that song, "building, a computer, for the pwnerer *echo*"

BEANS?

uhh i didn't really proofread this thing so if u have anything to add pm me and i will fix it. don't post it because i don't want everybody to realize my failure.

Great guide -- that's pretty much what the onsite tech showed me how to do when he was here replacing my mobo last week.

Funny you mentioned that episode of Pure Pwnage -- I was at Lanageddon during the filming of that (but wasn't in the video).
