I get approx 3 hours and 45 minutes, that is running Yahoo messenger, msn messenger, gmail talk, surfing the internet, running microsoft word, and some photoshop at the same time. When I game, I really don't see much difference. When I first bought the notebook I would see the battery life jump from 3:04 to 2:30 then back to 3:00 then down to 1.30 fast. I let the drained the battery life, by using the notebook until it just shut down automatically (no power left) , and recharged it. Then the battery life icon was accurate.

I would say it depends on what you do.

and I bought from zipzoomfly. Other places did not have it at stock at the time, only zipzoomfly. So I ended up paying more to recieve it earlier. Palm rest do not heat. You will feel no warmth coming from it, from the right went yeah. Especially when you have it in your lap.

then you may get around a high 3 hours almost 4.
also depends on your screen brightness. I run mines in office mode, and have a 88% brightness.

I'm only getting about 2 1/2 hours on battery Screen brightness is about 88% (same as yours Latino) and both cores register around 997.5 MHz and will jump to 2.16 at times.

Anyone know how I can get more batter life? I really don't want to make my screen dimmer.

thanks

automatic start up programs.
hidden processes.

to get accurate battery life, run your notebook on battery until it automatically shuts down. then completely charge it back up again and your battery life should be accurate. all i do to get my ~3.5 hours is surf online, run wmp 11, and microsoft word.

sometimes i run video games such as halo and do photo editing and get around ~2.45 hours.

oh yeah i run mines in quit office mode, i don't know if that will do much difference.

I'm on a clean install. So not many programs starting up. Simple idling and surfing Im getting 2 1/2 hours. I also did the battery calibration through the bios (fully charge then fully drain the battery).

Latino ... What are you specs? Processor?

Wondering if having the T7400 2.16 would cause me to lose an hour of battery life?

Are you using the 4 Cell battery and is he using the 8 Cell battery?

nah, using the standard 8 cell. 6 cell optical bay battery comes in Thursday. It could be I'm using a higher processor. Specs for the w3j's with the Core 2 T5500 1.66 shows battery life at 3-4 hours. So it could just be Im using the T7400 2.16. Who knows?

One guy on NBR posted he gets 4 hours turing everything off (wifi, bluetooth, IR, and a bunch of other things.), but he also didn't post his specs.
