DV8000 US vs. EU

Hi,

Over here in Europe, HP only offer the DV8000 with a Geforece Go 7400. Anyone know when they'll offer the 7600 over here? I suppose I could also ask how long it was in the US after they released the 7400 until the 7600? Are we talking weeks or months? I've got a bunch of money burning a hole in my pocket and I'm itching to buy a DV8000, but I don't want to buy a 7400 and then a week later the 7600 becomes available! I've tried mailing HP, but that was as useless an idea as I thought it would be... Bunches of replies from drones "Unfortunately we are not informed..."

Hope someone can cast some light on the issue!

I ordered a US spec'd dv8000t April-2006 with the 7400... Think I started seeing posts they were shipping with the 7600 about a month +/-??? later.

Not sure on the release date of the dv8000t series itself for sure, I think the dv8000t being released Feb-06.

If you've got money in your pocket you should WAIT because in August the new Core Duo 2"s come out 20-30% faster, will run a 64-bit OS...

Glad to hear you're happy with it. Mine's going back to be replaced with the 7600... The NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600 with 256MB discrete video memory is about 40-50% faster. 7400 is 64-bit 7600 128-bit 7400 is 128 / w shared system memory 7600 is 256MB discrete video memory To Plankmeister, read thru this, then decide , Keep in mind it was written several months ago... http://www.notebookforums.com/thread157799.html If it was me I'd wait, wait for the new CPU's and wait on the next GPU. To speed up both those things happening... get all your friends to buy a unit today so they can clean out all that old inventory

Thanks for the info, We*,

I hope I can wait that long... I planned on buying a laptop 3 months ago, and I keep changing plans (and now I'm planning to spend twice as much compared to then!!) But I have to admit, the DV8000 is the first laptop I've seen (besides the *really* expensive ones!) that actually appeals to me... It's capable, not just a sad excuse of a computer... especially with the 7600 in it!
I can't possibly wait 'til it comes with the Core Duo 2... But maybe in a year or so I'll upgrade the processor to a Core Duo 2. I also plan to swap out the bundled RAM with 2GB of OCZ or something nice at the same time. (holy sh1t, I hope my gf isn't reading this!)
