HardOCP updates Vista Compatibility

HardOCP tested several "Vista Capable" Systems

The skinny was:
Systems not processor bound
Sort of GPU bound
Defineitely Memory bound

They seem to show most new processors handled OK but.....
In their oppinion: anything less than a gig of ram was totally limp
An integrated NV 6100 w/ 128mb shared was adequate, but just barely, and it ate every bit of the 128 shared(just for OS). As far as I know(correct me please) the NV 6100 is the BEST integrated gpu solution available, only on desktops, and much superior to any other integrated gpu.

What does this mean: Better have a gig of ram, and imo a decent 256 mb gpu just to have a little headroom.

yeah, read that a while ago...

Had no problems with performance on an m3200 with 1 GB ram. The integrated graphics worked well, just not with the high-dollar eye-candy that will probably make Vista Ultimate unreasonably expensive when it comes out. Oh well, I will still have six versions to choose from...

Did Hard OCP verify that the Nvidia 6100 is really fully Vista ready? So far the only integrated graphics I had hears MS specify as fully Vista ready is the GMA950.

Being its just a mobile 6100, its dx9 and uses 128 ram as opposed to intels usual 64. Given the right nvidia lddm driver(ati's vista drivers are further along) it should be capable of running it properly, just its maxed out. or so I understand....

Arch...It's This one, right?

OK....this is the one U wanted me to C I think. but WHY IS EVERYONE EXHAUSTING THEMSELVES?????

i have a Gb of ram in both my desktop and Alien and as I just wrote in the wrong thread.....when I read somewherer it really WANTS 2gB OF RAM...i JUST KNEW AT THAT MOMENT THAT WAS right.

As for "eye candy," that, guys needs more discernment. FORM MUST ALWAYS FOLLOW FUNCTION. jUSTIFIED, CARDINAL RULE. Most web masters do not get this.......it's pathetic. forget this all is neoMAC stuff without the integrity-driven engineering of MAC technology, OK? Whoooooooo.... are they kidding??????

It's Vista Vampire.....and even the final version will have a gazillion holes requiring patching......trust me.

Do not roll ovah for NEW, & as I just wrote in the other thread which was WRONG THREAD....REMEMBER WUT THEY DID To Netscape.

AUTHENTIC IMPROVEMENTS ARE JUST THAT....NOT SMOKE, MIRRORS, DOGS OR PONIES, ok? OR ANYTHING arbitrarily transluscent, or requiring 2 GBs of ram just to wake up in the morning. If they wanna pay for the updrade sticks, I will agree and say THANK U. And nobody will convince me that it also doesn't really want dual core and for all of us to throw out all our puters and get new ones...made more badly than our current systems....if we don't have it. Dual core. Which IS A REAL step forward. And opposite of Vampire.

Seems 2 me that everyone is in isometric challenge struggle 2 C if they CAN run the Vampire without losing ALL their blood (IT RUNS, eEEEEE hAHHH! Except it's maxed out). We care about good specs for a reason, right? So that our systems do not burn out. Which comes first, the SYSTEM OR THE operating system?????

Is this VERY different from making differential decisions, researching and then maybe ENDING UP wanting to run it if someone does????

Hey, I ordered the DVD too, OK? Because I am human.

PS....i have heard interesting things about IE 7, though, except AOL software is not ready to accept it......forget today we all got amazing mail from AOL which is brilliant business move if U think about it....also stunning.....Free aOL if you choose to switch to any other ISP you can retain nearly all it's services!!!!!

I can't link U because there is not link, OK? And can not forward the mail you you-all.....also will not paste the content lest I violate something in Patriot act. But am sure if anyone is interrested, Google will yield many good hyperlinks.,...this only was announced today.
