Joker,

How many M1710 you been getting from Dell?? 2 or 3??

I understand how it felt when you get a problem lappy, but it seems you have been continuesly getting bad lappy from Dell.

I have been reading your posts about how good a LG screen is and how high you can ocing a 7900GTX...etc. Some infor were good, but not all.

What are you doing??? Trying to custom a best Dell M1710?? I understand how difficult to get a part replace from Dell, but your case is really special!!!

I am not working for Dell, but I am in sales business too. Sometimes is very difficult to please customers. Especially the customer that have special wants. If I were Dell, I might just return your money and refuse to do business with you. It is too difficult to deal with you becasue you are expecting a perfect system.

We are here to help each others with information, not here to encurage people keep change parts until they get one they wanted.

I am not here to against you. If you are still unhappy with Dell, please call Dell for full refund. Do yourself a favor.

If you have problem getting your refund, let me know. I will pay for the full amount of what you paid to purchse your lappy. Just leave the box unopen.
I am here to save your trouble.

At one point, I almost don't want to deal with Dell anymore. BUT....If you start to think about it, they are not doing that bad..... I have my own business running and I like to please every customer, but sometimes it is really difficult. Cusomters are always right, I agree. That is why merchants has "the right to refuse service."

What are you talking about you idiot? I've had problems with the LCDs having dead pixels and/or defective screens. The 7900 GTX overclocks have nothing to do with it. And why would you want to pay me the full amount I paid for my M1710? Seems like you do have a stake in Dell if system exchanges concern you that much and if you don't, who the hell are you to care or even ask me why I'm getting an exchange? Obviously Dell feels my problem is enough to warrant a system exchange, what you think or feel is irrelevant. Ok tell you what, my system costs $3200 without rebates but I'll also want a $200 markup on that so send me the cash ($3400) via USPS money order and I'll send you my defective M1710. If you're not willing to send me the cash, then mind your business and STFU. P.S. you need to work on your reading comprehension before making an ass out of yourself. Dell needs to do a better job when hiring forum shills.

I am on my 3rd system replacement, and this one isn't perfect either...

I think I am dealing with a kid... anyway, do what ever your want with your purchase. It is your investment and problem.

By the way, I don't work for Dell. I give comments on what I felt what is right. You are free to do what ever you like such as post the name of Dell's employee online which is consider "stupid".

I have nothing against you, but since you remove the "POST" at your sign so I am going to stop now. You are mad, but you don't have put someone in *damn* situation relates to his work. Just want you to know if people put you in a shitty way....

Hope you got a good replacement system after all.

Whats the big deal? If your paying big $$$$ for a laptop I would expect it to perform and work they way i would want it to myself so I agree with joker and whack, You honestly think i give a crap about a multi-billion dollar company who's about to go down the tubes if you noticed how low there stocks have gotten? I had a problem with my original laptop from them which i had purchased from the outlet the fan died on it and caused my Mobo to fry! And the funny thing was the rep i talked to point blank told me it was caused from the heat produced from the original 7800 in it, Why did you think the replaced it with the 7900GS, I was on the phone with them for 3 days at 6 hours at i time, untill they sent a tech over to replace my mobo & credited me $100 because they had originally sent me the wrong screen and even then the fan would shutoff and clocked it self to 1000Mhz cpu! I was so pissed I was ready to send back my 9400 and my girls 9300 which we bought new. After being on the phone and transfered over 15 times I finally got a supervisor that was willing to help me, he even offered to send me a brand new XPS M1710 loaded for free, for all my troubles. But i wasent greedy, I told him i just wanted a laptop that works. They sent me a brand new maxed out e1705, I call that customer service thats why i will always buy my laptops from dell, and i own a coputer business and im in the process of applying to be a certified dell tech and reseller. So if someone buys something and they have dead pixels (like joker had written) the right thing to do is fix it the right way, Well thats me 2 cents.

QFT! Apparently calstar Benz and trolls like him think consumers should accept defective systems to save a multibillion dollar company money. Normally I'd agree with the little troll if all we were doing was trying to get free upgrades or something but that's not even close to the case here, we have defective systems and our only demand is to have one that works without factory flaws. Anyway, enough of this thread derail.

Has anyone attemp to raise the vcore to gain higher speed?? My load temp remain under 65C, maybe I should raise the Vcore to 1.30 or 1.34v to see if I can go to 700/750 (same speed as desktop 7900GTX card).... By the way, I have replace the GPU fan to a stronger fan just as same as one use on CPU. It is a 4900RPM fan. Pretty good and easy mod. The fan is been use on desktop 7900GTX card. I got the fan through a OEM fan factory. There is also a 5400RPM fan, but it is a little thicker and wont fit into the cooling fan module from Dell.

I tried up to 1.3 and didnt make a difference. My goal was 650 and it would just lock up after a couple of sec running atitool and had to reboot. So went back to 625\725. 640 was the highest i could get the core so far at 1.24, I'm waiting to see if anybody tries 1.35 or more. That be wild to get it to hit stock desktop GTX of 650\800, but i really dont see that happening. Im happy with the preformance i have now.....for now.....lol

What happens when you run ATITool and check for artifacts?
dont use atitool anymore... visually I have 20/10 and can register 100fps+ with my eyes and I watch pretty close and noticed no visual ones... I start artifacting around 640 and above. The card doesnt like 645 yet as I havent tempted it with the proper AS5 offering yet...

I didnt know you could use atitool with the nv chips. Coming from the MR9800, I learned to love that program. How does it function comparatively?

The "Scan for Artifacts" portion of ATITool can be used with any video card.

Install it, run it, make your overclocking decision based on what you learn.
gotcha.. . I run 600/1200 on a daily basis maxxing out at around 78C in games. 625 runs flawlessly too, but I'm more comfy runnin @ 600. The temps seem well within reason.
I ran my 7900GS Single pipe at 600\1200 too, I had it up to 625\1250 but it was getting a bit to hot for my tastes. I think the 7900's clock limit are around 625, even my 7900GTX now dosent really want to go past 625, I had it at 640 but started getting at 90-91 but artifacts like crazy in atitool, games were alright but I'd rather lower it a bit and save the card some life.

I had a 7900GS before 7900GTX. It only goes like 645/1200. If I go high... lots artifacts.

Have u guys tried to up the vcore to 1.35v??? I read a article few days ago and there are a guy who up the vcore to 1.38v at reach 700/775 on his 7900GTX.... gotta check where I read the review from...
Hmm I thought it is only possible to up the vcore with the GS...how do you do it with the GTX?
Then that's about right for these 7900's GS or GTX, reguardless being 20pp or 24pp the cut off speed is around 640-650 at least at 1.24v, 1.38v seems high to me, I'd like to read up on what temps are like at that high of a voltage.
