M1710 Shootout: 3DMark05/06 Scores + Game Benchmarks. - Page 5

Ok now i am confused!!! I had mine clocks at 600\700 and runs great, no artifacts in ati tool and gamed from about 3 hours strait in every game i have so i know its fine and my temps never go above 82' degrees max. Now today i ran coolbits just to determin what king of clocks i maybe able to get way with it gave me something like 622\745, so i flashed to 625\750 so far 3dmarks run fine and temps are good about 79' (THE TEMPS DROPPED WITH THE HIGHER OVERCLOCK) but i do get mad artifacts in atitool, but not in games, only thing is gains arent all that great, just wondering what you all reccomend and should i even care that atitools show artifacts even tho all games are clear and 3dmarks run fine and i have been testing for about an 1 1/2 so if artifacts were going to show u in games i would have seen it by now. Also using Extreme 91.21-2.40a they seem to work best and i have pretty much tried all drivers
7900 GTX clock tests

625\750 temps:79 3DMark05: 9769 3DMark06: 5701
*Im thinking of going to 600\750 to elimate the artifacts in atitool, but it seems the GTX betters from higher core than memory and i highly dought my card will pull off 650MHz, tell me what ya all think, Thanx!
**Oh also did you notice that my temps are lower with the higher clocks, makes no sence to me unless the fans just kick on higher cause they dedect more heat forming, like i said all is fine except for artifacts in atitool, otherwise all is good, Im stumped!

Yea i agree, I was playing GRAW last night before going to be for three hours last night highest temp was 81' in nvtemplogger & nvidia control panel, also ran coolbits just for fun to see what kind of clocks the card could give me I ran it 15 times and each time gave me around 640\770, I dont know if i just got the pick of the litter card or what. Today I played FEAR, which i know is a graphic demanding game that if your clocked too high it will start giving artifacts, not one problem playin for an 1 1/2 hours.
I think ATItool is just super sensitive, alot of cards i have used atitools have shown artifacts but the card runs fine. My desktop x1800xt has been overclocked 690/1600 and i bought it at launch ao its almost nearing a year old not one problem in any game and running strong. My 7900GS did the same thing. Main conceren i heat, heat is what kills video cards and my max temp on my 7900GTX is 81' thats hardly running hot, i dont know?

I must say, the speeds all of you guys are able to overclock your cards to are simply amazing - insanely high, especially the speeds some of you have managed to get out of the 7900GS.

Speeds I can only dream of with the SLi cards - I barely get 15MHz o/c on core & RAM before the test fails and stops me from even applying the speeds..

I'd love to the the SLi GS scores at higher resolutions; like 1920x1200.
Granted, I did get good scores And great scores at 1920x1200..

But that still doesn't take anything away from the scores you guys are getting if you ask me - and the amazing overclocks! Even your 'mild' overclocks are big leaps from the stock clocks.

It says a lot about how good the cooling is on those Dells, I think

Its true, and quiet a few people here have recorded upping their 7900 GTXs from 500/600 to 650/700 - that's a huge overclock, especially since no extra voltage or cooling is required...

Im running my 7900GTX at 625\750 for the past few days and never had one problem, and i was originally scared to go past 600\700, I had written before that I did run coolbits to see what the card would allocate, i ran the test 15 times and each time it gave me around 640\770, Im sure after a couple of minutes the heat would probably gor through the roof and artifacts everywhere, besides the easy chance to fry the card! No way I'm taking that chance right now, I have done every test and played a bunch of graphic demanding games and have never gone over 81 degrees max temp and im not using AS5 nor any fan utility program. I am very satisfied with these speeds, Now later on I may build the courage after the overclock has set in a while to rase the core a bit and see the results but I know i shouldnt take a chance on going anymore with the memory. By the way does anybody know the detail specs of the memory used on the 7900GTX? ns,timings, brand, formula to determine max speeds etc...

You should try running Titan Quest. No game has demanded more from my card.

Is there a demo? These are the games I have played for a long period of time and clocks of 625\750 and in all cases temp never exceeds 81' maybe 82 for a sec, I have NVTEMPLOGGER to warn me at 83' and it has never gone off nor logged any temp higher, these are the games played:

G.R.A.W., Prey, FEAR, The Cronicles of riddick, Hitman Bloody Money, Tomb Radier-Legends, NFS Most Wanted, Half Life 2 episode I, Oblivion

Most of those titles are up to date games and some of the most demanding games out there. Every game is set to MAX quality, 16AF, and ether HDR or 4AA depending on the game. and i have stuck with the EXtreme-m 91.31-2.40a I found this driver to be best overall.

I tried the game for a bit, water scenes look good and I kicked thoses dudes butts tryin to kill that homly guys hourse, lol I se the game to 1920x1200 everythin set to high and AA set to high aswell, also i have 16AF enabled on all the time in Nvidia control panel. I had vsync off. I averaged 36 to 40 FPS and the lowest i noticed it went to a couple times for a few seconds was 32FPS max FPS in the game was 46FPS that i noticed using FRAPS 2.7.3 And no proplems with artifacts or heat issues. So Two days of testing every game at it and seems to hold fine at 625\750 so i am going to leave it like that for good. I'll wait and see if anyone gets daring to try higher or if someone uses NibTor to up the volts above 1.24. Im happy that it plays everything on full blast. Dell did awsome with these sets of laptops. Laptops have finally started to catch up to Desktops well for now atleast. And my laptop out performs my desktop and I put some quality hardware when i built that thing from the ground up. Anybody want to buy a desktop? LOL!

Nice. Did you happen to log temps?

After an hour or so in some intense battles, my GPU will get near 90 degrees OC'd at 600/700. No other game runs this hot for some reason.
I only played for about 10 to 15, it stayed at 81' but im sure if it gets intense later on abd you get up to 90 i probably will go a bit higher. I know fear and NFS Most wanted after playin for a while really heats things up even my 7800GTX usally stays at max at 84 but during those two games Templogger idicated at some points it would go to 86' but my 7900GTX never budges 81-82, no matter what! I'm trying to think maybe trying some of thosw nvidia graphic demos, some of those really make the cards work, I think I'll try that next. Otherwise every indication is showing I will be safe at 625\750 which I am happy for a max.

I noticed some people here are clocking their cards to 625/750Mhz. Has anybody bothered to compare the difference between 625/750 and 650/700 overclock? I would assume that the later will produce a higher frame rate / 3DMark score as the GPU is being pushed more, and for the same reason I would also asume that it will run a slightly hotter temperature? Has anybody bothered to test this? I'm curious to see which performs better, but I will not get a chance to test it for myself this weekend...
I have seen people do 650\700 and it does yrild better scores, Im already getting artifacts when i treied 650\700 so then i tried 625\725 and it was good, then i tried 625\750 and still good. I ran coolbits to see how high it would let my core go for reference 15 trys and every time it came around 640, my card dosent seem to want to budge past 640 infact it gave me a coolbits clock test score of 640\770, but i'm not ab out to try it all games right now run anywhere from 81'-86' max temps, depending on game.

The 7900 GTX in my M1710 is garbage. It barely overclocks to 610 mhz and passed that it locks up. The 7900 GTX in my last M1710 used to do 640 mhz easily..wish I would've swapped it out. Anyway I hope my replacement machine has a better OC'ing 7900 GTX.
Unfortunality the saying is true not all cards overclock the same, I had written a couple of posts back, when I bought my old 9700pro when it first came out, my cousin bought the one right next to it on the shelf. His clocked past 9800pro speeds in clock & memory and mine only went up a worthless 25Mhz on both clock & memory, I was so pissed. Luckly over the past few years i have been luckier sinnce then. I'm Happy with my 7900GTX with 625\750, and when I ran coolbits, saying it could do 640\770, I have been debating on maybe trying the clocks to 640 but i dont think im gonna try 770 on the memory, I think I'm lucky enough reaching 750. But having 640\750 thats close to GTX desktop speeds. Maybe I'll get the courage to try sooner or later. Most games(even playin for hours)usally max out temps around 81'-82' degrees but i was playin condemned and it maxed out at 86' which i feel is still more than safe.

Hey Joker what were your max temps when you were running your card at 650? What is the max temp to run 24/7 gaming below the 102' temp threshold, I wouldnt think anything over 94' would not be safe, thats what my 7800 vanila 450\1200 maxed at, when i went to 475\1250 it would go up to 96-98 and that was to high for my tastes.
