its is generally excepted that x1600 is better than go 7400, as i've read from this forum. But im trying to decide between two models w/ the same configurations except one has go 7400 w/ 256mb and the other has x1600 w/ 256 (BUT 128mb is shared w/ system ram) .

the x1600 model is "Packard Bell EasyNote v7413".

what would be your decision?

but i'll have 128MB of less memory with x1600 model, wouldn't that effect total system performance?

even though the X1600 has less memory it performs better.. Its like comparing a 3.0GHz Pentium 4 with a 2.0GHz Pentium M. Even though the P M has 1GHz less, it performs much better

thanx, u r being really helpfull.

by the way, go 7400 is said to have 256MB turbocache video memory; does it mean that it can reach up to 256MB of memory w/ turbocache or, it can reach beyond 256mb of memory with turbocache?

I'd imagine it is 256 in total. That is it is probably 128 and it too takes 128 off your system RAM. Turbocache and Hypermemory are pretty much the same thing. Oh and yes the X1600 is the better of the two by far.

The 256 is UP TO, including its dedicated ram (usually 128MB) and borrowed system ram (another 128MB). Turbocache should be able to utilize up to 512 total, but it is up to the maker to determine that limit.
