Gentech (1toppc.com): Buying Experience

After a month of researching the W3J and almost every ASUS reseller checking and re-checking prices, I finally made the decision to purchase it.. I found that Gentech has the lowest price for this product. Ken Lee was very helpful and friendly throughout the process. All my product and pre-order questions were answered quickly. Order processing was fast and merchandise was shipped right away. I would gladly do business with Ken and Gentech again in the future, and I highly recommend them to all you NBF members. Excellent customer service!

Very cool. I ordered mine from Geared2Play just yesterday and should be receiving it tomorrow. I can't wait. Congrats on the machine.

Thanks.. and congrats to you too! I was set on purchasing from Eddie at Geared2play also back when the 1.83GHz version first came out, but I forgot about the NY state sales tax.. and since I live here in NY, the tax was so expensive when I was about to check out, so I held off. Then word came that there will be a refresh due to the Intel price drop, so I waited for that.. then I found out about Gentech's discount.. and the rest is history.

hey do they ship internationally? specifically to Australia? I'm looking into getting an S96J from them as they're one of the only fully customisable sites around.

Some resellers usually do ship internationally.. but you're looking at about $300 for shipping + insurance. You should send a PM or email to Ken.

I recommend GentechPC.

They are awesome!

Yea gentech looks good, however it says preorder only for the w3j
post #9 of 28
yeah I know about the shipping, my current laptop I got from ISTNC. Anyway I can't seem to find any other resellers (local nor abroad) that sell the S96J as a barebone. Anyone know of specifically Australian companies that do? Would ebay have it?

thanks

I have had an amazing experience with GenTech so far as well. I would also recommend them/I have recommended them to people. As soon as I get my laptop, I anticipate liking GenTech even more. Ken does an amazing job.

No mouse or bag. Asus stopped including them here in the U.S. I think the UK and other countries still get them though.

mmmm I am seriously considering getting one of those... I dunno maybe. What's the performance increase on the X1600 over a 6600... double? more?? also is the WXGA screen gonne seem really small coming from a 1400X1050? not that I'm all that phased just wondering.

My Z70va with an x700 benchmarks were around 2700 in 3Dmark05. That's w/ stock drivers and no overclocks. I've scored around 2800 with Omega drivers. The x1600 gets around 4000 (stock drivers). So it is a significant gain in performance. The x700 scores a little more than a 6600 in benchmarks, so it's safe to say that the x1600 is close to doubling the performance gain over the 6600 (maybe double with Omega drivers). As for the screen.. I went from a WSXGA 1680x1050 screen on my Z70va down to WXGA 1280x768, and I think it's fine. The texts in a WSXGA were a bit hard to read, but it's more comfortable in a WXGA. I do miss the real estate of a WSXGA during gaming, but I'll get over it. You should be fine coming from a 1400x1050.
