Got my Asus back from repair

Well, I bought an Asus because of all the great things I have heard about the quality of them. Hopefully this was just an isolated incident and I dont experience any more problems.

I noticed from pretty much day 1 that the DVD-RW wouldnt ever writ a full DVD, or would it really read towards the end of a CD/DVD very well. I decided it wasnt troubling me enough to be without my computer. Well, all was well otherwise until my computer woulodnt charge until I wiggled the AC adapter. Thinking the adapter was the problem, I bought a new one. That didnt fix it. This went on for about 1 month until it stopped charging all together, despite wiggling the chord..forcing me to send it back.

I will admit, they were professional and quick about it. They ended up replacing the motherboard and DVD-RW drive. They also, for whatever reason, replaced my keyboard. Everything seems to work great now.

I do, however, find it somewhat ironic that I was steered away from Compaq due to 'quality issues'. My 1st notebook was a Compaq, which lasted me nearly 5 years w/o a hickup, despite about a dozen drops.

hmm, i know the z71v has a faulty battery problem....which is really just a batch of bad batteries. ASUS among other companies is not perfect, they have their share of issues, but what makes them what they are is that if there is a problem, they will work fast and hard to fix it. (unlike HP/Compaq that can't answer a simple question on tech support for 2 hours...most of it on hold)

Yep, and which I praise them for.

This wasnt a battery issue, but something that makes the connection from the plug to the MB, or the MB itself.

hey baileymoto, did they charge you for a new keyboard?

Im in need of a new keyboard myself, i lost my "b" button, plus the keys are looking a bit old, not too bad but its been a year, plus im handing it down to my sister soon.

Hum, i wonder how much it would cost, im still under warranty until august 07, but i dont think its covered.

I have the asus z70a, same thing as yours, sans the gpu.

Nope, no charge. Something was broke on it from the notes I read, not sure what. It did work perfectly before I sent it in, so I really dont know. The notes about the keyboard say: Problem: Surface Repair with new components Keyboard lock bad. EX K/B Cover Problem: Keyboard Lid Repair with new components EX Keyboard

I don't think Asus will replace your keyboard under warranty because of wear and tear.
Geared2play has the keyboard available for sale though at $75.
