Desert Camouflage Paintjob on old Dell Laptop

Hey everyone, my first post here,

I was searching the 'net for a camo paintjob for my old Dell laptop and couldn't find anything I liked, so I came up with a desert digital pattern and ran with it.

The stencil/color pattern idea is from a military website which used it to pain some of thier rifles. I took the lcd apart and the palm rest and only painted those because I didn't know how it would turn out. Now I need to go back and paint the rest of the laptop to match.

It took me about 3 hours for tear down, paint, dry time, and reassembly. It's not perfect but it's better than the old boring black color it used to be.

Thanks for looking,

dave

Here are some outdoor day pics now that it's daylight.

Thanks for the comments guys/gals. This is the laptop I use whenever I go out to my once a month weekend job. Sometimes we are out in the woods and sometimes we are in an office, but my Dell should now stand apart from all the other laptops seen there .

Hopefully you'll be able to find your Laptop if you set it down somewhere That's a REALLY good looking Digital camo paint job. I reckon the armed forces would be proud.

Very nicely done. Blends in really well outside. But seeing it sit in the sand just made me nervous heh..

Updated the Paint Job

Went ahead and took it apart again and finally painted it all.

Now I need to find me a couple of cans of spray paint that match the new Army ACU colors and paint something else.

Awesome Paint job, did you get new decals for your laptop or covered them up when you painted it?.
I like it. FYI, the new ACU colors are all shades of green btw, except one tan part. Ill see if I can come up with some exact RGB codes for you.

I hate the ACUs, but then again, I'm wearing them EVERYDAY, ALL DAY.

thats a fantastic paintjob. Quite honestly thats something i could see paying for to get my laptop done the same way, lol. Im to scared to take apart my 9300 and paint it all, both because im afraid i would screw up taking it apart and also possibly totally screw up the paintjob lol....
EDIT: one question, how do you keep from like overlapping the lettering of the computer make and the HD load/power/battery charge? because i dont see a way in hell to get anything to cover them since they are so tiny. anyway, im pretty interested in tricking out my laptop =)

I covered up the labels on the bottom of the notebook with masking tape.

I'm still stuck with BDU's I haven't even worn yet, not to mention the 6 pairs of black boots I own.
I just got my ACUs issued and they kinda look more like shades of grey and tan than green. But yeah, finding matching green colors in spray paint cans will probably take some time.

Be safe out there, I'm still awaiting my orders to Signal OBC.

Hi,
I just masked them with tape and painted over them. I did the same with the lights, svideo, audio ports etc.
Good thing about a como paint job, you don't have to worry about screwing up, it all blends in after your done.

Well, go celebrate lol, cuz you did an absolutely professional job at painting that laptop!!! I really wanna get to know more about taking laptops apart/working inside them, since i really really am not into the current look of the 9300 with the silver/white combo, and also if you have a chance could you post links of the place where you got the stencils because i really think what you did is awesome and may wanna try it for myself

wow those pictures were great! now i want a camo laptop! anyone know if they sell some kinda skin/cover that's camo? taking apart the entire computer than reassembling seems too much of a hassle for me. great job though!
