Looks are a very personal matter.
And, as far as I know, have nothing whatsoever to do with performance, unless your goal is to impress others. Personally, I like the understated paradigm. I avoid flash, bright lights, blinking avatars, chrome (other than black chrome). I prefer to meld into the background and be invisible.
One of my favorite cars was the Fiat Abarth 2000, it was a Fiat 850, the car that started the "fastback" craze back in the 60s. But they has stuffed an Abarth 2000cc V8 that cranked at about 10K. That drove a 6 speed ZF. The car was simply amazing, not that it had such a high top speed, maybe 140, but for how fast and effortlessly it got there and back again. The paint job was really plain, just a British Racing Green, no stripes, no rally lights, the only hint were the two big exhaust pipes sticking out the back.
Yep, nothing quite as nice as understatement, which is why I have such a calm, mellow and compliant personality.
