Yup, and personally, the 5680 isn't ugly. Just looks like it is in the pics. Just a bit thick. Would love to see it painted. Even then, still faster, or at least just as fast, than AW and cheaper. Though they do have better battery life.
And just rememer, the older AW were clevos...

I personally think my 4780 looks great, and I've never liked alienware cases of any sort. The understated/sort of sophisticated style is right up my ally. But to each his/her own...

I think it all depends on your perspective (and what you plan to use these bad boys for). Sure, if I were a bit younger, lived for LAN parties and didn't need my laptop for anything but gaming, I might dig the alienware designs. However, toting an alienware around for a business/research purpose would get me laughed off the podium. Sagers look far more professional, and since that's 50% of my use, I much prefer the look of the sager.

well I haven't seen a reply to me asking about polywrap or if I have I was half dead... so anyone try polywrap on thier puters? desktop or laptop..? I heard they are pretty durable, but come off clean w/out leaving a residue behind, is that true??? I was thinking of black semigloss or gloss, or maybe a subtle texture on all that grey plastic for my 4780...
and thinking of a custome brushed stainless steel badge for the top...
conservative but science lap ugly, you know... Im a designer I want to give the best impression of myself you know...

I would love to have one of those cobra's! There was a place in NJ when I used to live there that custom made them (kit cars) expensive, but beautiful.

Hate to bring up a trite cliche, but: beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Now think of the phrase in a metaphysical sense: what if the entire external world is just one's perception? Then what is beauty?

if your comparing models i would have to say alienware, at least the new model, but if your talking bout colors, Sager takes the cake with those sick chameleon colors and hi gloss finishes, beats that saucer silver i tell you that

What Sager are we speaking about here? The 5680 looks OK, the 8890 looks like a thick turd, but the 4780 is a beauty.

The single most reason why I didnt go for the 8890 is because its like 2" thick and a hefty 12(ish) lbs. I've read sometime on these boards that typing is uncomfortable because of the thickness. The 8890 sacrifices looks for desktop-like performance, its real beatuy lies within its performance. I feel that the 8890 is a 'plain' standard looking laptop; if you walk into a room with one person with an 8890 and another with an Area 51m, I guarantee more people would be in awe of the sleek looks of the Area 51m!! Its look is unique, unlike the 'standard' looking 8890. I respect the performance of the 8890, but I feel that Clevo could have designed a better looking and less bulky of a machine.

P.S. This poll is biased and in an unlevel playingfield because it IS IN THE SAGER portion OF THE FORUMS (not everyone checks EVERY forum). If this was in the ALIENWARE forum or even in the GENERAL NOTEBOOK forum then the results would be very different. So far, Alienware has held up pretty well amongst the Sager zealots in this forum!!

not really cause i have sager and think the alienware is somewhat better looking also this poll was open to all not just us Sager Zealots

His point was that this was posted in the Sager section. Perhaps it's not representative because there may be AW ppl that don't know about the poll since their interest isn't in Sager. I know last year when I had my eyes set on an AW, I never came to the Sager forums (now they can't seem to get rid o' me).

And RdLdr, I agree- it should be moved to the General section
