I have order a m9700 on the strength of what I have read in this forum and think im going to be very happy with it.

However got an email today from AW saying that my order will be delayed because they have run out of keypads!! how rubbish is that and what a funny part to run out of.

It's normal for them to run out of virtually any part. Whenever they run out of something miniscule they still halt the production of the laptop(s). I kind of like the fact that they want to build a great machine.

I am still waiting to purchase my second AW mobile powerhouse. Good luck with your order

Well did I speak to soon or what!!

Got another email from AW today now the motherboard is out of stock even though yesterday they told me that all the parts were instock and my system would start being built.

Its only been 8 days however my ship date is today and im still only showing as stage 3, and im starting to get a little miffed

Too bad. I think the increased popularity and the generous sales incentives are part to blame for shortage of everything. I hope you get your order rolling soon. Good luck

Well this is getting silly now, now they have run out of Windows XP so they wont start to build my lappy even though they could build it and then just install windows when it comes in! at least then some progress would be getting made. I have now been told on 3 dif occasions that all the parts are instock only to be told the next day something is missing. Refund me thinks

Be patient..the lappie is worth the wait. The worst thing about ordering one is the waiting and waiting and waiting and...well you get the point. Each minute seems like eternety. Good luck with your order. I hope it gets to move quickly for ya.

Would Alienware put the Arctic Silver on the CPU when they're putting my m9700 together if I asked them to? Cause im really scared about my system eventually overheating and I dont want to void the warrenty by doing it myself.

just get one of those cooling pads off ebay! I got one for only £2.48 with 2 fans in,its also rasied at the back so its ideal slope for the laptop.

The one I got is totally silent and the fans seem to work really well in making a draft also they have blue lights on the fans which matches the m9700 perfectly.

Now if only my laptop would turn up!

Chances are they would not do that for you; not because they don't want to, or because they don't like you; it's just they won't do that due to warranty restrictions. However, you can always ask. Perhaps they will honor your request. Good luck to you

I asked and they said nope. They just went on to say how their quality control ensures that the CPU's dont overheat. And also went on to say that they realised this problem and apparently have put 3 fans in there now. But i dunno how recent that was. How many fans do the people that are having heat issues have?

Guys,

I might need some help.

Already posted in another thread I had some problems with my m9700 when I got it from alienware now after almost 3 weeks back in ireland they send it back to me with only fixing one issue. After again couple of hours on the phone and testing and testing of my system we came to the result that my very last open issue is not fixable because its kind of conceptional problem.

The problem is: if you listen do music or do phone conversations over the inet with e.g. skype / msn there is a kind of vibrating noise coming from the lappy. After testing and trying and taking apart we figured out its the keyboard which starts to vibrate on low bass tones (easy re-test with pushing the equalizer of soundplayer to only send out the bass tones). The reason is that the small subwoofer is placed under the numeric block of this laptop and there fore at this position it mainly vibrates.

Can some of you do me the favour and try this out on your m9700 but do not push volume to high (wont be necessary) after manipulating the equalizer.

Thanks in advance

Hi Mate,

My cousin got his m9700 on Monday of this week and naturally I went round to have a look as im waiting for mine, After a few mins of game play and music i was sure i could hear something was wrong and after really listening it was clear it was a vibration coming from just under the right side of the keypad so looks like you are not alone!

Good luck hope you get it sorted, if you do could you please post as to what fixed it

Its funny, they want ME to run the stress tests on the CPU rather than them, and they want me to reinstall windows from scratch (i.e. not using their Respawn software) before I can send it off... lazy Tech Support.

EDIT:
Maybe, not. THey are convinced that everything is normal. So if they dont fix it, I am going to return it. I didnt pay almost 4k for an OK laptop....

EDIT:
It seems like re-seating the graphics cards seemed to help, the 3DMark Scores are much closer to what they should be and are stable (~8300, remember, i have the ML-40) So i think i am happy with that.

If anyone has the ML-40 I would love to see your 3DMark05 scores.

My system configuration is in my sig, i have the ML 40, 2.2Ghz, and my 3DMark05 scores are around 9400 consistanly. I did get up to 9600 at one point... but i dont know how. I dont seem to be having any issues with mine so far.

Sry mate, I have to tell you that the answer from Alienware is that I have to decide wether to accept the fact (and maybe get a small present) or send it back. There wont be any changes in the currently existing release.
