Marker01's m9700 review - Page 10

As I wrote this is also verfied by AW Tech Support and the said this is a conceptional error. They offered me to ignore it or send it back bcz they cannot fix it. Actually you push it down by putting some small tape around the right holder of the keyboard but its not gone totally .

If you decide todo so plz discuss first with AW support do not get warranty problems.

Wow Pepsi your order is really moving!! I ordered mine the the 24/8/06 and Im still showing stage 5!! Seems the US side of things get there fingers out a bit quicker than there UK counterparts.

Anyone know if you can get a better battery for this model as its only listed as lasting 1.31 hrs.

Since my m7700 was stolen, I have a couple contacts that are willing to help me with obtaining a new laptop sooner.

I don't think there is a better battery just yet. We'll have to wait a lil bit

I wonder why that the US side of Alienware has components that us UK customers dont have option to buy.

ie,US can have dif colour cases for the m9700, UK can`t
US can have dual 512 graphics cards, UK can`t

anyone know why?

Also my order is now Phase 10 shipped today wooooo hoooooo

They will, they will.

Alienware's P2 chassis was released in America a few days earlier then here in Europe. But still, somethings are different.
For example with the m9700, in Europe it comes standard with a DVD Burner and 1GB of RAM. In Alienware USA it comes standard with 512MB RAM and a CD burn/DVD drive (no burn).
What really bums me is that you can't get your laptop with Media Center preinstalled here in Europe. I have a legit copy of Media Center here at home though, but i don't want to go through all the fuzz.

Aurora m7700

what good and bad qualities does 7700 have compared to 9700 and other alienware laptops?
I have alredy ordered and paid 7700.
I heard that it has what i takes to play oblivion,hl2 and other new games.

The buzzing noise only happens when you are playing something that is very bass heavy.

And wouldn't you normally route the sound through headphones or external speakers, anyway?

mine buzzes too, and if i hold down the nemueric keybad, it stops the buzzing, but i've normally got speakers or headphones plugged in, and it does only happen when i have very bass intensive sound.

I owned an m7700 and I have to say it is a great lappie. Handles all the latest games, as well as photoshop, illustrator, and a CD burning function all at the same time. No kidding. I loved it, but it was stolen recently. Now I am getting an m9700 which I think is more stylish and has the performance options that I need. Both systems are strong, however, the m9700s dual 512MB GPUs sold me in a new york minute.

Mine turned up yesterday and I have to say I am over the moon with it, I got a 3D mark 05 score of 9700 straight out of the box, I then installed F.E.A.R and whacked up the settings to maxium and got a max fps of 268 and a ave of 98 and it never dropped under 45 and it runs as smooth as a babies bum.

I also have no buzzing issue with vibration no matter how much bass is playing,I love the the keyboard its a pleasure to type with (im using it right now lol)

I did find that when I look into the add remove programs list i also had the Athlon drivers installed rather than the Turion driver so its well worth checking to see what you have installed on your system.

The only bad point about the whole laptop is the battery life @ 1.31 hrs and the battery meter seem to give you the battery life depending on what you are doing rather than how much time is actually left, I have also noticed that there is performance drop when running on battery power not much but there is some, I would also advise anyone getting this laptop to invest in 2 things, 1) a new mouse, the pad is ok but it is laminated so its not as smooth as it could be and I find it soon becomes kinda sticky and harder to move your finger over esp if you are hot. 2) some kind of cooling pad as it does get very warm underneath, I have bought one off ebay and it works a treat.

what sort of cooling pad did you buy, whats the dimensions?

Hi guys, I have a question, I have just run 3D mark 05 again and got a score of 9901, However I noticed that when it tests the processor on the return to proxycon and canyon filght test it only runs at 3/4 fps, so my question is does that seem about right or is my machines abit slow on the processor side? I have m9700 with the turion ml44 2.4, Thanks for any replys

Mr India I will post dimensions when I get home as i do not have the pad with me at the mo

Toolster...that's how the program runs, no matter which system you have. It freaked me out the first time I ran the program. 9900+ is a great score.

you think thats bad? Look at my Pentuim M 1.83 ghz it gets 0-1 fps on those test while my turion x2 gets 4-6fps. Shazza Congrats on finally getting m9700! (is it raid 0?)
yeah, superkdog...I went for RAID 0. I figured I'll just disable RAID if I have any problems with it. I'm pretty good about backing up my Hard Drives, so I'm not too worried about re-configuring it down the road if I need to.

(sorry, Marker - but your thread seems to have turned into a general m9700 thread. This has turned out to be one popular notebook...and a lot of that is due to your review...the fact that there are folks like you and Hammerhead around to answer questions helped throw me over the edge!).
