Marker01's m9700 review - Page 5

Yes, m9700 (it comes with a different name where i live but its the same). Anyway, i just got the new one (with turion 2,4 ghz this time ) and so far no dead pixels. I run 3dmark06 and i had 3 fps more in the first test. I used to have a minimum of 15fps the moment the camera shows close to the enemy soldiers behind the boxes from right to left for the first time and now it doesnt go under 18 fps. I will run the entire test later, i believe i can get a score near 6000 (with the cards overclocked to 435/615 and without overclocking the cpu). Does a screen saver have anything to do with dead pixels problem (cause i never use screen saver)? Did anyone get the 7900bios? Cause the site had a problem yesterday. Here it is again http://briefcase.pathfinder.gr/browse/kirileman/45687

I believe you bought your system from a different manufacturer than Alienware, correct?

I don't believe the European resellers use the same suppliers on all hardware that Alienware uses, so it may not be the same screen.

Built in sound?

Batt life is not that great with RAID 0. Even with only 1 GPU running, LCD brightness down all the way, and all settings to "max battery" i register about 1.5 1.7hr of battery life. they claim you can get 2.5 out of these machines, but not with RAID i assume.

Screen is great, UXGA is just awsome.

Built in sound is "meh" compaired to other systems i have tried. the built in sub-woofer helps. but for awsome sound, just connect to the built in optical out to your digital 5.1/6.1 sound system

with everything on and running (productivity, no games) I can get at most 1.5 hours.

I have to agree with Marker01 on the rest of his review, I am honestly really disappointed in the sound. I get a very annoying buzz at high volumes. I can't really notice anything from the "sub-woofer" My dell inspiron 6000 actually had a way better overal sound quality for daily use.

Aurora m7700 had nicer sound also.

for gaming, it is ok, from what I have experienced so far. But I am a hard core audio addict (being a musician and all) and the sound quality on DVD and CD playback is what I really would deem unacceptable. I have tried several cd's, several styles of music, and several artists. However it is just a laptop, but I really expected more.

Like I said, it seems to work fine for gaming, but not great...

I didn't expect much from the onboard sound. It's alright.

If it is at home, though, it has the Klipsch 5.1 plugged in through the optical output. That sounds just groovy to my ears!

I didn't have any issues with heat following three hours of gaming. Was still pretty cool to the touch, front and rear. I don't have any fans blocked though, so, I am sure that helps.

Perhaps, i cant tell. They look exactly the same. Anyway, the new one has no dead pixels so far.

Are you talking about the onboard speakers and "subwoofer" or plugged into an outboard sound system?
He's talking abouit the onboard speakers and subwoofer.
yes, the onboards. I was hoping I could get by with just those, but I believe I will be investing in some outboard speakers in a couple of months...
That is what I did.. Since I've bought the computer I've been collecting speakers. I have 2 subwoofers setup now for surround sound. and 6 speakers. 3 subwoofers with the computer.

http://www.alteclansing.com/product_...s.asp?pID=121i
http://www.alteclansing.com/product_...asp?pID=VS4221
and a set of small speakers.

The two Altec's sound awesome together, I havent been able to add the other set yet because of jack issue.

You can get a really nice setup for near $200..

Wow you got a 6.3 system ! When your playing a game and a grenade goes off dose all of the glass in your room shatter?
I think i have problems with cpu temp. It goes over 85 when i play games or 3dmark and i think its the reason of instant low framerates. Any solution? Its 64-66 celcius when i browse online. Is this normal?

I havent been able to test it to its full capacity yet.. I started collect all of these just for the m9700 becauses it has the 3 audio jacks in it and an optical port. I cant wait though. It will be nice ^___^

I think my first test will be... F.E.A.R. or Doom 3. with the speakers near full blast. ^__^ That should scare the sh*t out of me.. Hehe
