Drivers problem

Thread Starter
Ok, got my E1705, reformated, and now I'm at the desktop.... But, the drivers cd that came with it seems to be no help at all.... I've installed the ethernet drivers and i'm on the laptop right now, but I can't seem to get any other drivers to install (nvidia, creative etc), it says there were no devices for the drivers found or something along those lines.... can anyone walk me through the drivers cd or help me with this because i'm getting pretty frusterated...

thanks

There's a good chance you have the wrong CD. Did it auto-detect your model or is there a drop down menu from which it expects you to select from a list?

You may want to 'skip' the CD completely and go straight to Dell's download site for your drivers. Here's the U.S. site....

http://support.dell.com/support/down...=us&l=en&s=gen

fwiw I'd start with downloading:

Dell QuickSet
Sigmatel STAC
Intel Mobile Chipset
Ricoh Chipset
Conexant Modem
Synaptics Touchpad
Broadcom 440x Controller
Wireless Driver [as per h/w]
Dell Notebook System Software
Video Adapter Driver [as per h/w]

That should get you pretty close. As far as install 'order' Dell has this on my e1505 CD....

Dell Notebook System Software
Chipset Drivers [Intel and Ricoh]
Video Driver
Communication Drivers [Conexant modem; Wireless Driver; Broadcom Controller]
Input Driers [Synaptics]
Audio Drivers [Sigmatel STAC]
Misc Drivers [Dell Quickset]
