crappy qauke3 performance on 1705

Yeah...I still like Q3.
Is there an openGL bug in the nvidia drivers?
I'm jumping between 40 and 100 fps (average 70) at 1024x768. With a 7900gs, I obviously could pull 300 fps in a 6 year old game like this.
I've tried a couple different sets of drivers, and have re-installed windows.
My 3dmark05 scores are normal at 6500. vsync is off.
Is Doom3 opengl? I should try another opengl game to narrow things down...

Any ideas? Thanks.

if your AA and AF setting is maxed out in Q3 only then thats a good reason why its being hammered.

Ok, there are two possible reasons, either 1 you have 8xAA or something on, or try doing a vid_restart, I have noticed that I will do a timedemo and only get like 120 FPS, but then I do a vid_restart and I get 670 FPS, q3 runs awesome on my M1710 with a OC'd 7900 GS, I get 670 FPS at lowest settings @ 640x480, and 505 FPS @ 1920x1200 max settings, without AA/AS.
These are timedemo's on demo001.

Also make sure you dont have an opengl32.dll in the q3 directory.

thanks exa. I'm at 57 fps when i timedemo the stock four.demo at 1024x768. that dll isn't present.
i set my aa and af to off. Maybe i'll run the nvidia driver cleaner, and then re-install quake.
How do you force 1920x1200 res in q3? thanks....

do this
\_customwidth 1920
\_customheight 1200
\_mode -1
\\vid_restart

if your at 57 FPS with the timedemo it makes me think that vertical sync is on, but earlier you said you were getting higher than 60. Just to give you an idea, on the default settings in in q3 smp I can get like 700 FPS on the four demo.
