my girlfriends jack on her toshiba broke for the second time. is anyone aware of a "universal" extranal notebook battery recharger? I know toshiba sells one itself but:
#1. its not locally available.
#2. its very expensive at around $250.

why would you need an universal recharger? putting in and out the battery of your laptop will be tougher than just plugging the normal AC cable to the laptop to charge the battery! damn.

Nope, nor can one exist. Laptops all have different voltage and amperage, hence wattage ratings. My old laptop is like 16 volts, new one is 14.

Well, ok lets fix that statement. No "Easy" one could exist. I guess with a switch and a changeable tip its possible, but certainly would be a pain.
