Is the M5500 video card upgradeable?

I ordered my lappy with the Nvidia 256 6600 card. I believe at the time this was the best they offered for this particular laptop. I'm asking if I can send my still under warranty laptop back to ALienware and have the say nvidia 7600 card installed without any issues? Or is there another card besides the 7600 that will work with this machines bios and video card slot?

Thanks in advance for help!

Thought you guys would like to know that, so far this machine has been flawless!!!! I love it !!!!!!....... THANKS ALIENWARE!!!! lol

You'd have to call Alienware to see if they'll be offering upgrades. They generally won't do that with new hardware due to demand on new units, but usually the hardware will be available for upgrade after a while.

Whether or not the 7600 will work in the 5500 is something you'll have to ask Alienware also or find someone that's tried it out themselves. The 5500 has an mxm socket, so it should be possible to upgrade the vid card.

I called AW the day I saw the new cards. Well they said that they can not upgrade to the 7600 right now. Until they get enough then they will consider making it a upgradeable option. But you can downgrade to the ATI one hahah. So as of right now I got a "NO". It sux. I know.
