Core Duo pin-mod - Page 2

I conifgured a nice 14" model for $1050 - 33% for the dell coupon, comes out to ~$700, which is a great deal. Still, I already have my modded 9300 laptop and cant get myself to spend that kind of money for this, despite the coolness factor .

Yeah, it just doesn't seem as glamorous as it did last year. I mean 1.5ghz was the bottom feeder of the dothan world that wasn't low voltage. And then, 2.0 was the top of the line at the time. 2.13 was just being released. but the difference in that and the 2.0 was pointless. Also, the 1.5 and 2.0 difference in price was a good $650 at the time I did the mod so it was beyond worth anything.

Well, I still say this would be a worthy mod for someone that's in the market for a new laptop. I'm not, but it'll save at least $250-300 off the price of a laptop. It's too bad Dell doesn't offer the 2050 in its E1705 series, otherwise we'd see this take some major notice in the forum.

well, it's still reasonable I guess. I mean it's not like your 9300 right now came with the 715 as an option

hmm that ramps up to 2.16ghz i've been out of the computer loop really ever since i parted out my computer to buy a car. if that's within valid range for the higher end core duos, then i'd say it's possible. doesn't sound too hard

Wow though, that means for ~$1250 (via the $750 off a $2000 system coupon), you can get a 2.16GHz Yonah, 512MB RAM ($155 to upgrade to 2GB from newegg), 7900GS, TrueLife screen, and an 80watt battery. That is a friggen steal . Man, people should start jumping on this, unless they're waiting for merom .
well actually first you have to be 100% sure then pinmod will work

Worst case scenario is a I have to buy another Yonah from eBay, but there doesn't seem to be any reason why it wouldnt work (I doubt intel would take the time to shut down the enthusiast market). However, the only way I can try it is if I can sell my laptop to get the money to buy a new one .

I think the 533 to 667 is the best bet also. I believe clear fingernail polish is a good insulator. It might be time for an upgrade if we can get it to work

I dont think you can use the $750 coupon on that model because you already get the free 2GB memory upgrade.

I tried applying it and it works, although I selected only 512MB of memory to be purchased. If you cant get it to, just wait until wednesday when the new deals come out .

I am in the middle of trying this out as we speak... please come on over and check out my thread and let me know what you think. I have solved the pin isolation problem, and successfully upped the system bus to 166Mhz, but cannot get the multipliers to move. I could sure use some extra assistance on this one...
