S96J USB 2.0 Issues

Hello,

I have an external HDD that I sometimes connect to my S96J. The thing is that whenever I plug it in, Windows (Both XP and Vista Beta 2) tell me that I am not plugging it into a USB 2.0 port and asks me to connect a hub on which the built-in camera is internally connected. But none of the 4 USB ports on the S96J seems to be on this hub as the warning comes up on all of them.

I tried copying a file and it was really slow...much less than USB 2.0 speed. I tried it on a Dell 600M and it was muchhhhh faster...

What do I do? Any ideas? I re-installed the Intel chipset drivers but that doesnt seem to help. Infact, in Device-Manager > USB controllers, only 1 device is named "Intel(R) 82801GB USB2 Enhanced Host Controller - 27CC" while all the others are called "Intel(R) 82801GB USB Universal Host Controller" 27CB, 27CA, 27C9, 27C8

Definately odd. I just tried hooking up my Maxtor OneTouch USB2.0 external drive to my S96J and it worked without a hitch, and it's blazingly (well, as blazingly as usb2 can get, I guess) fast.

Worth mentioning though, is that it says the same for me in the device damager, 1 enhanced USB2 controller, 4 USB ones.

Can't really think of a solution though, maybe try reinstalling the Intel INF utility thingie?

Hi,

I tried with another external USB 2.0 drive and that works well...no Windows warnings regarding the hub speed, nothing...speed's fine too....Wierd!

I guess I'll have to re-check the old external drive controller...But the wierdest part is it works fine with my 600M!!!

There's only supposed to be one USB 2.0 controller. It affects all the USB ports, so it shouldn't cause a problem.
