Dual Core 1.66 with Quake 4 and FEAR Question

Thread Starter
I'm planning to buy a Dell E1705 Core Duo 1.66 with 1gig memory and a Geforce 7800. Can a laptop with these specs run Quake 4 or Fear? Would the screen size and resolution of a widescreen affect my need for an extra gig of memory?

Yeah it can run it just fine at 1440x900, maybe even 1680x1050.

I am not sure on Quake4, but for FEAR, I think most people liked 2G of RAM. You can find a few posts here from people who went from 512MB or 1G to 2G and check their comments. Better CPU resulted in less of an increase.

I would expect both to play fairly well as long as you turn off the resource hogs and play at a reasonable resolution. The games should still look great.
