for someone who games 80% of the time and does other stuff (music/web/basic stuff) 20%, would the core solo be better?
nope, core duo all the way. Core duo is good for gaming, browsing the web, listening to music, using photoshop, etc. Core duo is better then the pentium M 1.86 ghz in everything

why are you bringing up the pentium-M? im talking about core duo vs core solo... i dont care about multitasking performance... formostly a gamer, you are saying that the core duo at 200mhz less cock speed will be faster than a core solo?

Core Duo for sure.

No, becuase the solo and duo are exactly the same, cept ones got 2 cores the other 1. I would say the solo will be slightly faster just cuz of the 200mhz, but really now, cpu doesnt really matter in gaming that much. The gpu is where u should look at, because thats gonna make the difference.

the difference between a 1.6 and 1.8 cpu is like 5fps.

Plus as games start to utilize dual core the dual core would be faster would it not?
i think oblivion is the only game thats affect by duelcore by alot. new games will use dual core so if you planning on playing new games as they come out get core duo but if you just wanta play bf2 and css get core solo

Correct Me If Im Wrong but I would swear that the core solo and P-M were the same

Also, Core Duo is newer tech, and multitasking or not, itll surely help more than 200 Mhz in the long run.
