Could you check and tell me what your USB conroller is? My ext. Hdd has issues with the intel 82801 controller (I don't know why) and I just want to know if it is the same.

I thought you took pictures of the laptop playing oblivion, not screenshots of the game... If we wanted to see screenshots of the game we coulda gone on gamespot and they have over 800 of them..

Aww...

It looks nice, thats true, it looks the same on my desktop, the question is how many fps are u getting outside

The pics have fps in the top right corner.

Nice Review.

What settings are you using to play Oblivion? I notice 18 FPS on the first shot...a bit low for smooth gameplay, but I imagine you'll go up considerably if you lower the grass view and a few other settings.

Just curious about how well the x1600 handles Oblivion.

Very Nice.

Would you mind posting temps for your GPU, CPU, and HDD (and ambient temp) after a couple hours of Oblivion?

^ awww.....I thought I was editing this one, sorry for the 2x post.

Oh and...

Speakers: This is definitely one of the weak points in this laptop. They are not very loud at all and the sound quality isn't too good, considering this thing has Realtek HD Audio with some good external speakers you will be good to go.

That's too bad, same as the z70va.

Keyboard.... the one on my z70va annoys me to no end as it will only function if I strike the "sweet spot"* on it, how is it on the S96J?

* sweet spot is pretty much dead center on the durned thing.

Yeah, the real FPS killer is the grass, I fixed that and now im getting 6-8 more fps outside.

My CPU was a 61c, my HDD was at 45c, and I cant monitor my X1600 temps.

Overall Oblivion plays real nicely, im running it with "Large Textures" so if you change it to medium you can probably squeeze out some more FPS, but it plays very well. The X1600 256mb does a good job and maybe with another gig of RAM Oblivion would run even better.

Too bad Oblivion wasnt to optimized for PC's, if it was we could have been seeing 30+ fps with X1600's.

2998 seem too low for Z96J, 3700~3900 is average score, did you benchmark with battery power?

***Update 9/8/06***

S96J still going strong, no problems.

Everythings good! I love this thing! Word Processing and simple tasks are a breeze and the laptop makes me do these tasks quickly and efficiently.

Im looking to upgrade to 2gigs of RAM soon.
