**I just bought an S96J Thread** - Page 2

You know what it looks like. It's almost like those bad window tinting jobs where thousands of tiny air pockets get trapped between the film and the glass.

Somebody else can try by previewing the Windows XP screensaver and seeing if you see the same thing. It's only noticeable on dark backgrounds which there aren't many of in day to day computing but are abundant in movies which is when the problem becomes noteiceable.

I'm not sure that's the case because for people getting stuttering with Asus DVD, the solution that has always worked in installing PowerDVD.

technically, it's a slightly stripped-down version of Power DVD, so getting whatever additional features there are in the full version may have an effect. Personally, I prefer WinDVD, but that's just me

Funny, just tried that, don't see anything wrong at all, regardless the angle. But, for example a dark grey background, when looking at it from an angle it looks like there's a whole bunch of tiny air pockets trapped... but nothing when looking at it straight.

i ordered from powernotebooks, so i'm probably in the minority here, but does anyone know what the deal with the messed up/delayed shipment is? It's supposedly going to affect all north american vendors...

As far as I know, the Z96J is the one that got messed up. Apparently they forgot to include the optical drives in them.

As for the S96J, I'll let one of the reseller's explain, but my guess is that they just didn't anticipate its popularity and weren't planning on having to make more until they got some of their other models off the assembly line.

haven't done so just yet mem. I did install the Omega drivers & have been trying to just see if there is any noticable difference in performance w/ daily use. doesn't seem like much difference from before the omega installation.

Did the Omega drivers work alright for you then? You haven't noticed any you know... like crashing of the computer or anything?

Nope (knock on wood). No slowdowns, no "garbage" on my screen, no "cloudiness", no delays. Definitely no crashing or BSOD's, no freezing. I do notice that the touchpad sometimes won't react to tapping as quickly as I'd like ...as though the active area is only a quarter inch space, but maybe I need to update that driver.

I have the exact same problem... talked about it in other threads too. I noticed it first on the clouds, in WoW. They were grainy Then I went to my desktop and removed the desktop image so it was just blue and can see it there. Do you have omega drivers installed? I'm going to format it and reinstall it next week with the newest drivers from intel's site. I didn't notice it before installing omegas, but it was still there when I tried to switch back... I may not have been looking very closely initially.
