Just out of curiosity, when it says "Shipped!" at GenTech, does mean it has been shipped? When I go to the UPS site for my tracking number, it still says billing information received. How long does it take for it to be updated to tell me about my estimated delivery date?

WHen it say "shipped" it's picked up by UPS, UPS sometimes don't update their tracking page until it reach destinatio scan, same thing happen to USAPATRIOT, so don't worry about it.

Lol, I figured it was just on UPS's part, I just didn't know if/when UPS would update. Lol... I basically just can't see straight because I am way toooo eager for it. After I found out it was shipping out a lot sooner than what I thought, I got all excited

Hello All,

I have a quick question for everybody?

If you ordered from Gentech when did you order it and when did they ship it.

I keep seeing people getting theirs but I ordered mine on June 28 and I was told not to expect it till the week of the 24th of July. I have seen others on this forum confirming when they ordered it (which was after me)and they are getting theirs already.I am kinda worried why it is taking so long for me.

Whoa, thats crazy, you should ask Ken about that.

BTW, How much is the cheapest 1GB Ram out there?

The demand is very high on this model and Asus couldn't produce more S96J fast enough, but the next shipment will be there the week of 24th. thank you for your patience.

Birdman, I wish I could give you a membership card. I would if I had them to give out. Hmm... maybe we can consider part of the box it'll come in the membership card...

Yay, this is also my 100th post. Now when I give rep, it will actually count.

hey guys, i've been reading all the posts and you guys talked me into buying a s96j . I won't be getting it till around the beginning of august though. i really can't wait ! well anyway, my question is:
is there a big difference in performance between the t2400 and t2500?
i don't know if i'm gonna get a yonah or maybe wait for the merom. i heard there was a 20% performance increase in merom!
The difference between 1.83 and 2.0 isnt that big, and the 1.83 is a damn good chip by itself. Right now I would go with the Yonah and later down the line I would wait a couple years till Merom(by then Santa Rosa might be out and other chips too)

Some other dealer was saying that the VBI program was a failure and im curious to what Ken and anyone else say about that..
Not worth it in my opinion, i got a 1.83ghz and its very very zippy.

Yeah, the difference in the T2500 and T2400 I have heard isn't all that great. I however chose the T2500 as it was the most expensive component in my setup, and I was hoping to hold out on Merom a little bit longer than the T2400's would be comfortable to do. That way I can save money on the merom, but my method may totally betray me in the end, and even if it does, the resell value of the T2500 at 2.0 ghz atleast sounds better for ebay auctions than a 1.83 ghz. And if that fails, I only lost like $50 in the ordeal and still got a really great processor.

i heard socket P is coming out around April 2007, you guys think this will last? i want to keep this laptop for at least 3+ years
post #100 of 161

Well, with Merom I think this laptop is a little bit more future proof than most. But as for wanting to keep a laptop for 3 years... in no point in time has there ever been an occurance of a 3 year old computer part being "outdated" so if you are looking for a laptop that will never outdate, good luck. As far as will it still be functionable of course. You will be able to use Vista with it, and with the Merom upgrade you could run Vista 64 bit. So it will still be compatible with the next Microsoft operating sytem. The general rule for buying a computer, is buy when you need it. That way, for that time period, you can get the best laptop you could afford when you needed it. There will always be better parts in the "near" future. As far as socket P, I don't know about, but if you don't need a computer right now, don't buy one. If you need a computer right now, then obviously Socket P will not work for you.
