Acer Aspire 3623 Standby Problem

Thread Starter
I don't know how common this problem is, but standby mode seems to be getting worse. A couple of months after purchasing the notebook, it stopped going into standby after closing the lid. Updating the Acer Epower Management software or even a complete reformat and install of XP did not fix the problem. So I thought the heck with it, as long as it goes into standby after the number of minutes i alloted.

While it still works, sometimes it just doesn't seem to go into standby. Several times now I open up my notebook, expecting to wake it up from standby or hibernate and the battery is drained. It hasn't happened to me yet at a critical time when there was nowhere to plug in, but this is definitely annoying.

Any ideas? I dont wanna have to bring it back to the store unless I have to so I'd like to solve this myself. Any help would be appreciated.

*BUMP*

yea I'd like some input on this problem as well. I've noticed this on my 3623 too. Is it something to do with the button in the upper right corner not making contact with the monitor when the lid it closed or what?

Switch, I think you could be right about Brightframe's problem.

This can be tested, if you just hold down the button in the top right corner and the system does go into standby then you have solved the problem.

Well, maybe not solved, but found the cause anyway.

I had the same problem

I think I was having the same issue, I never new if my notebook was in stand-by for sure once I closed the lid (kind of like the light bulb in the fridge). Now whenever I close the lid I make sure to apply just a little more pressure to the lower right corner when I do so that the screen contacts the little stand-by button. All the screen needs to do is push the button down,it doesn't need to hold it there in order for the computer to go into stand-by, thats what I found out after fiddling with it.
