Caveat Emptor - Check your m9700's

Hey everyone,
I received my m9700 today, which I immediately fell in love with, I had already taken all the pics, and even written an awesome review when I started having trouble.

Issue #1 - AW did not change my order as I had requested
Y'all remember a couple of weeks ago when the price dropped - I called to take advantage of that as well as change from XP pro to MCE & add a TV tuner & remote. Well I was supposed to have gotten an e-mail and I thought I had, but I hadn't. Needless to say, when I received my lappy today, it was in its original configuration, neither the order change, nor the price difference was applied. I should have checked for that e-mail, I will take the partial blame for that one :-(

Issue #2 - After getting everything installed, I noticed my raid wasn't set up... You know the drill, called AW tech support, spent an hour on the phone "checking" things, ended up reformating and re-installing windows. So much for doing any gaming this afternoon...

Issue #3 - Now I check, thoroughly when the lappy arrived, but immediately after the reinstall, a pixel about 1.5 inches from the bottom right corner gets stuck on... Windows installation blue. Which shows up very nastily against a black wallpaper... I can't get it to go away, I think it has died :-(

Issue #4 - Part of my order change included a respawn disk. But, I got a drivers disk, so I thought, "ahh, I don't need it anyway" Until I re-installed windows and the driver for the wireless card wasn't there. plus not all of the drivers were the same version as the ones on the machine. So I have to lug this hoss to the router and hook it up manually to dl drivers that were missing. Plus, none of the disks included the DVD player software that was on the machine when I booted it.

To sum things up - Check your machines thoroughly upon arrival to make sure everything is the way you wanted it before you waiste an entire day like I did...

Good luck to the rest of you...

If your pixel is showing blue (or any color), then I believe it's not dead. Try massaging it? Or some programs that supposedly work for these things?

Well, it sounds like the good news is that the machine works. Although you have config issues and they screwed up your order, you still have a viable working lappy. And a nice one at that.

However, I know the disappointment when you get a gem like that and things aren't they way you thought they were going to be. My Aurora had issues from the start so I know what I speak of. It can take the wind out of your sails and somewhat deminish your initial joy.

All I can say is get that baby configed and crush some opponents online. That'll cheer you up pretty quick. And try some of the stuck pixel remedies you can find on NBF. They may or may not work for you but its worth a shot. Good luck.

alright, well, everything is reformatted, reinstalled and back where it was yesterday with the exception of some more tweaking and oc'ing. I have tried massaging it and running various programs, but not such luck, it is still light blue

Oh well, everything else seems to be working fine.

Something interesting however, after the reformat and installation of drivers, I ran 3dmark before I enabled the SLI. I got a score of 1457... After I enabled the sli, I was back up at 9879... strange that there would be suck a difference...
