I can't run any programs that use Direct3D. 3DMark06 crashes before any window or test even opens. Unreal Tournament 2004 with the latest patch only runs in Safe Mode with everything checked (meaning everything in safe mode); otherwise it will give a generic C++ abort message just when it attempts to change screen resolution. I already tried editing ut2004.ini to use 1280 x 800 but it didn't help (it did try to open the game at a different resolution than before the edits, though).
When I run dxdiag, the first test passes, but the other one and the following one give the error:
I am using the drivers downloaded directly from Dell. Downloading either the latest beta nVidia drivers or the latest stable ones for mobile Geforce 7-based graphics say that they don't support the hardware available (a Geforce 7400 Go).
This is on a completely new Windows XP Professional installation (latest updates).
Any ideas?
