I think the resolution is set to 1280 - I will have to check that and get back with you. That is running things on pretty hight settings, I will write them down later tonight and post them for you.

I really didn't have any problems (driver wise anyways) until I had to re-install windows. Some of drivers were not included on the driver disc AW provided. Mainly, my CPU driver upgrade when terribly wrong and caused me problems for over a week. That was really the only one. Once you get your machine, before you install anything, I would burn your own copy of a respawn disc (if you didn't order one that is) My initial set-up was running great before I discovered the hdd's were set up in raid like they were supposed to be... But now, everything is running great!

Quick Update

I have deteremined that my very hot - not so a/c'ed house (we have window units, which don't do much when it is 115 degrees in Texas...) is having an effect on my m9700's performance. The room I have been using the laptop in (the coolest in the house) usually stays at about 85 degrees.

I took my lappy with me to work today (my office stays at 68) and after oc'ing my cpu to almost 2.5mgz, I ran 3dmark05 to see if the temp actually made a difference. Lo and behold, I got a 10,207.

Afterwards, I played some games during lunch, and doom ran flawlessly on the highest possible settings. I cranked up the settings on oblivion and it was fantastic. Everything was just about maxed out and the only thing I experienced was the occasional stutter.

These m9700's are fantastic machines! Now I just can't wait until winter...

Sounds good, willy. I smile everytime I see a reference to 9000+ benchmarks in 3DMark05 and people being disappointed. That's such a great score for a notebook - but the most important benchie is games running good. The m9700 is certainly a nice system.

big will, right click on the link (right mouse button) and then click "Save target as" and save the movie to your machine. It works fine. You're trying to open the file directly and that's blocked.

Shazza - thanks, the m9700 is a great system. I originally was going to purchase an Aurora m7700, I had been saving up for months. But I am completely please with the 9700 and I am very thankful I did not get the 7700, it just wouldn't has suited what I was needing.

Now, before all the m7700 guys start up - I am not bashing the 7700 - but after reading the issues some of the guys were having, plus the heat, plus the battery life, plus the portability issues, and all the other things that people have complained about - I believe that AW has stepped up with this m9700 to fill the gap for those of us who actually do not need desktop processor power, but do want a powerful portable gaming PC.

So, I guess kudos is in order for AW or whoever developed this machine. There was a definite niche for this unit in the market and hopefully AW will be able to dominate with this new Aurora. It would be sweet if they could come up with a very similar Intel based machine... I am sure something is in the works...

Hmmm... I'd probably go for the 9700 instead of the 7700 if the 9700 came in blue... the silver is not the greatest looking. And the FX-60 is very tempting...

I hear you on that - it would have been perfect if it had came in blue. But the silver is really starting to grow on me. Plus, it doesn't show dirt that badly... If you are wanting a semi-portable desktop - then the 7700 is what you need, but if all you are wanting is a gaming notebook, then get the 9700. It is way more portable and way better on heat than the 7700...

What I was told is AW sent their requirements to Arima, and Arima built to AW's specs, so it's an AW-Arima partnership that created this platform. Part of the deal was that AW gets exclusive rights to this platform in the US, so you will see some manufacturers sell this platform in Asia and Europe, but in the US it's AW only.

It would be great if there was a similar platform for the core duo processor, but as I understand it the pentiums don't support SLI, so that's why the m9700 uses the turion.
