eMachines 53xx Series Class Action Lawsuit

Thread Starter
I've been involved with this for a while and finally we are getting some results. There has been a settlement reached regarding unexpected shutdown and cpu performance in the 53xx series of eMachines laptops. If you had these problems, you are in luck.

Good Luck to anyone affected by this laptop, and remember that justice is sweet.

Admins...can this get a sticky? These laptop issues have been a concern forever on this forum, and finally we are getting some results.

filed january 14, 2005?

lol they had already finished their research of the problem and had decided to repair for free regardless of warranty anyone having that probelm before that time

if anyone knew about the problem and "concealed the existence of these issues at the time it sold the M53xx Series", it would be Arima, not eMachines

2.25 Million for the lawyers, 2 grand each for the plaintiffs. Sounds about right!

Does this apply to fixing the m6805 with auto-shutdown problem regardless of warranty?

Do a search in this forum for "m6805 auto shutdown". Probably the lengthiest thread is this one:
http://www.notebookforums.com/showth...429#post739429

In that thread alone the following users report this problem with an m6805:
BigSteve, grateful lurker, antiproduct, stevenmh, Mobile Hackbox, murel, toronto-m6805, olyteddy, Deltafire, FreeDummy, rustyShacklford, FoMatt, juandj, and ghn.

Besides them are numerous other posters who complain of this problem with other m68xx's, and some who don't say which model, but might be m6805's. My problems did not show up for almost 2 years, so maybe that is why you did not hear of this sooner.
