Using HP Remote as a mouse

Hello.

I have an HP Pavilion dv5191ea and I'd like to know if there is some way I can use the remote that came with it as a mouse. It does have directional buttons but I've tried using them to move the cursor but nothing happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Waleed

I don't get why anyone would want to use a computer to bother with TV tuning.

If I'm reading all this right there are two "remotes".... On that is a $13 option that allows you to I think access the QuickPlay function remotely...

And a TV tuner remote... that is the remote for the TV tuner (about a $130 option)

Ok I got the one form costco that u recomended me to get WeAreNotAlone, not the TV tunner one. Sot he remote is for the QuickPlay, ok well I was actulay hopping it could be used on the actual wondows/linux system itself. O well, maybe I can figure out a way to get the remote to work in woindows/linux like a mouse or whatever Always like doing fun things with toys that not sopose to happen. but hey i nead them to ship the darn laptop first

It's for remote controlling of the DVD playing functions, ie, play, stop , pause, change tracks, and volume up/down, mute, etc...

Hey.

In my case the remote I'm referring to is the Quickplay and not the optional TV Tuner one. Basically I'm having a problem which is quite simple. Whenever I have a playlist of videos playing on Windows Media Player and have my laptop hooked up to my TV, the before the end of one video it automatically minimizes the player. So I would like to be able to move the mouse and play the video on full screen rather than having to get up and maximise the window each time a new video begins. I know, it's quite lazy of me, but it's just so annoying.

Any tips?

Thanks,
Waleed.

Well from what I see, there is no setup so far to use the remote as a mouse. Trust me I am a little disapointed to. Someone like me has to go and make a way to get the remote to act as a mouse through some new driver or somthing. Someone may have jerry riged it so far but I have not found it. I may give it a shot later on when I get my laptop. But again it may end up being specific to my laptop model as each could differ in how the remote is receaved into the system and such.
