m1210 camera review

Thread Starter
on a rating of 1-10 lets start at the top

concept - camera integrated in a laptop (been done before so nothing new) 8

quality - seems well made but takes a genius to try and rotate it 6

image. - seems washed out either to bright or to dark 5

overall i guess its something nice i need to work on the brightness but the design quality could have been more refined. not easy to rotate camera.

thats my piss and moan on the camera

i've seen real screenshots from some other sites prior to purchase. i think the quality to be good. its not the best engineered piece of equipment however it is useful and 1only 100 bucks

I agree that it is useful and one shouldn't expect much on the quality because it's only 1.3 mega pixels cam. The reason I order m1210 with A/V package is the convenience that there is a webcam anytime a user need one. If one is not carrying a digicam, camphone, videocam.

I installed Windows Vista and the Logitech software no longer works. Do you guys know a good proram for recording webcam videos? I will use it to record lectures at school.

Thanks.

if there's a windows movie maker of some sort in Vista, then that is basic, but works for me!

^ There is WMM, but somehow it doesn't detect the camera. MSN messenger AV works great though.

Ditto :-)

What software do you guys use to record the lectures? I desperately need help since summer school has already started. Logitech programs are out of question because they don't work with Vista.

build quality? is this camera easy to break off? also how is the case build quality in general? i am trying to decide if i want to get a 1210 with or without. Is that microphone your talking about built in? I would love to be able to record lectures but feel like it wouldnt pick up the audio?
You have the built in hypercartoid (sic) mic with the camera. Also, the build quality is quite good, doesn't seem like it will break off anytime soon, it's just a little difficult rotating it, but you get the hang of it quickly.

WMM included in Vista beta 2 does not detect the camera on m1210...

hm... interesting. are there updated Vista drivers from logitech?
Logitech has always been slow in writing drivers for new OS and this time is no exception. Dell is supposed to provide the driver anyway because it's OEM. MSN messenger detects the camera with no problem, however. Any third party webcam recording softwares available?
