i don't know many people who's been swapping to memrons just yet. there are some people in this forum who has done that mod successfully you might want to search and pm them for help

Hm then maybe your merom is dead ....
I never had any problems. Apart from the thing I have to strike F1 to continue although the CPU is officially not supported.
Do you know your merom's stepping? I use an Step 4 B0

it works again, when i pull out the battery (cmos) few mins.
one strange thing when i change the power option to AC. it comes some kind of electronic noise (vvvvv) but when i change back to max performance the sound gone..... do u have same issue?
the cpu is quite hot.....

Lol yes I noticed this problem, too.
Somehow it went away. Maybe because of RMClock.

I got it quite "cool". 60° max under full load.

Do you have to press F1 at startup, too?

Unfortunately, you cannot add microcode yourself. Hopefully your next BIOS update will fix the problem.

One of you guys should post a little tut on how to swap processors for the m1210. Is it as easy as replacing ram?i'd love to get one of these processors down the road.

thanks

i would wait till someone confirms a stable bios for the chip. looks like e1505 users are running into issues with heat and minor bugs. it also appears memron runs quite warmer then expected, considering how tight our chasy is in the first place. running the fan on full all the time stirs up some problems on its own. not to mention who actually enjoys that whirring background noise

Merom runs even way cooler in idle than yonah does. For the same reason the battery time is drastically increased.

When merom is under load it's hotter ... but not much!
Remember it has 4MB of cache ... that's a lot of transistors.

Keep in mind that Merom's die is completely different in size and orientation. So the Yonah cooling solution are not optimized for Merom.
A copper spacer would help ...

Right now I'm experiencing absolutely no problem besides I have to press F1 at startup

ANY noticable enhancement in performance at all??

is it worth an upgrade?
