Hi Guys,

I'm hopful someone else will know what my problem is.

It's like the back light increase in brightness for a split second then drop back to normal. The screen is at maximum brightness. It occurs at random.

Here's a couple of ideas.

Are you plugged into AC power when this happens? If yes, then is there a chance the power is not clean or you're having either short blackouts or brownouts that are causing the laptop to intermittently switch between AC and battery power? If you're sure it's not an AC power issue, then maybe your power brick is defective or intermittently failing causing the laptop to switch to battery power.

Whether the above is the case or not, try setting your screen brightness under AC power and battery power to full brightness and see if that makes the problem go away. If it does then for some reason your computer thinks that the power source is changing. If not then maybe the computer itself has an issue and may require being sent in?

Yeah, I've tried setting the AC and Batt brightness to the same level. No difference.

I'll try it on Battery tonight.

My suggestion is that it is better to contact Dell about your issue because it doesn't seem to be a normal problem with the M1210. Good luck too.

Dell is sending another one out. Hopfully I get an AUO screen to compare with this SEC. I'll report in when that happens.

I just got my M1210 on Friday and I have the same problem with my LCD (SEC3157). Only happens on the left side of the screen for me and at random. Its like the blinking you sometimes see with fluorescent lighting.

I just noticed the same thing on mine. I wonder if it is related to the Nvidia power settings.

Also when I lower the brightness to 4 or less I can see horizontal ripples going across the screen like if the were generated at the bottom. Is this common to this model? So far a little unimpressed... I'm about to start missing my e1405.

Are you refering to the flickering at low brightness?

If so:
Go to http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?...1=-1&cp2=-1&si= and download the driver to your desktop

Then go to My computer\Properties\hardware\device manager\display adapters\nvidia and unintall it

The run the file you downloaded (it is an installation wizard)

That fixed mine

Glad to help. Makes you feel better about the HW being tested correctly.

The Dell tech said that when you have a doubt about the display you can go into the BIOS and watch the screen; if it looks fine, then the HW is fine.

Now the sporadic bright flashes on the screen still happen in my office. ... Everyone else has the same bright flashes on the screen?

Yeah.. its happening on my new 1210. Going to try to do the uninstall and reinstall. If it still has a problem, I'll contact dell. I guess a good justification would be.. Flashing on the screen like that can cause Seizures.

Haven't noticed it yet, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Bad news, the flickering/blinking is there. Contacted Dell Support via chat and they want to replace my NEW LCD with a Refurb. The laptop was opened about 4 hours ago after UPS delivered. Dell Tech Chat informed me to contact customer care since I am not happy with getting a refurb part. I feel that I should receive a new part since this laptop isn't but 4 hours old, not a refub that has usage (wear and tear) on it. LCD type I got was the samsung.

Any suggestions before contacting customer care?
