So I have an Asus Z80K, 512MB RAM, and I recently bought a new RAM chip, also 512 MB. It has the ATI Mobility Radeon 9700. I use Ubuntu Linux, but I don't think that it is related.
I checked them out and they are all the same, except the brand, which I guess shouldn't be an issue?
So here is the issue:
1) When both chips are in my laptop, my 3D acceleration is disabled. 3D acceleration works perfectly otherwise, but if both chips are in, it is gone, as if I had never even installed the drivers.
2) If just the OLD chip OR the NEW chip is in the laptop by itself, EITHER ONE, everything goes back to normal. 3D acceleration works just fine.
So the problem here is I can't figure out why this happens. I posted a week ago or so in some random forum I can't even remember now, and someone said a setting in the BIOS might fix it, but I can't remember what setting.
Can anyone make a suggestion?
