MX6920 Notebook - No Reviews! Help!

Thread Starter
Needed a new notebook. Was considering:
DELL Inspiron E1505
HP Pavillion DV1660SE
Sony VAIO VGN-FE660G

Then went to Best Buy and got talked into the Gateway MX6020 (US$950) - 1.6ghz, duo core, windows media.

Need word processing, email, music - but really just want it to be fast.

Kind of (totally) a novice at how to go about getting the best system for me.

Any insight would be much appreciated while I can still return it!

I just got a Vaio FE660G, and I love it. Great TrueBrite screen (widescreen), very slim and like 6lbs... The only drawback (besides coming with 2 512mb RAM modules so I have to buy two 1gb modules to upgrade) is integrated video, it uses up to 128mb of memory if necessary, no separate video memory. I'm not looking to game, though, so it's not a real concern for me.

Nice buy

Looks like BestBuy already have the replacement listed: mp6954

Anything with an integrated ATI or nVidia graphics will bury this machine in anything game related, but for the requirements you listed the 6920 should do fine. Just don't expect to be able to play anything more complicated than minesweeper with Intel's integrated graphics.

Oaky ,correct me if I'm wrong here you said you were in-the market for a MX6920 or a MX6020 I'm a little confused as to what model you were considering? I found some reviews on the MX6920 @ CircuitCity.com (USA) so Here they are: 1st the specs of the MX6920: http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/...cation.do#tabs Now the reviews on the MX6920: http://www.circuitcity.com/rpsm/oid/...Review.do#tabs

I am a big fan of my 6920. I have only had it a few days but I find it fast and its a great value for what you get. 120GB , 1G memory, ect.
