I considered it, but I had a DVD burner on my old desktop, and I never used it. Thanks for the input.

What kind of difference does a Dual Core make over Solo core? Am I going to regret not shelling out a bit more money for the dual?
i've gone from single to dual and vice versa and i hated having single core

i multi-task a lot so it's very beneficial, i would definitely push for dual core

Personaly, I would choose the X1400, but if you don't play games, the nVIDIA chip will be very nice.
why the 7300? it costs more and is slower than the x1400

I didn't know the nVidia was worse. Damn. I do plan on playing some games. I hope it works out ok.

If it still possible, cancel your order and re-order one with the ATi X1400 ( if it costs nothing, of course ) because the X1400 is more powerful than the 7300 in games ...

The coupon I used to order my computer has already been used the maximum 4000 times. So it would appear I'm stuck with the nVidia. Is it really that much worse?
you should read up next time not just assume nvidia is the better card =]

Yeah, I just called Dell and tried to change my order, but the coupon is expired now so I'm stuck with this one. I also could have had the dual core for about the same price, because that one had free upgrades. Dammit. I guess I should have done a bit more research but I wanted to hurry up and buy it before the coupon was used the maximum number of times.

ouchies. you would definitely have benefitted from having gotten dual core, not just performance/mult-tasking, but you're resale value :\ by the time you wanna get a new laptop and choose to sell that one, most ppl are gonna want dual cores.

Well, I have since realized that the free upgrades would be cancelled out by the coupon, so it would have been more expensive. Now I don't feel so bad.

The Geforce is still a perfectly good video card. It's not spectacular, but the X1400 isn't all that good either - if you want a real gaming video card, you need to go for the E1705/9400.

From what I've seen (largely based on 3dMark scores), the X1400 definitely beats the Geforce Go 7300 in new games - but in old ones the Geforce is quite a bit quicker.

The system looks good. Just keep the Core Solo for now and upgrade it to a Merom CPU when they're available. You can also upgrade the RAM easily, and if you're desperate then you can upgrade the video card.

Well thanks for the input, everyone. Maybe I could have gotten a slightly better deal, but I think I did ok for the amount of money I spent. Now, I ordered on Thursday, and it says it's in preproduction as of Thursday. My estimated ship date is July 25th, with the 3-5 day ground shipping. It seems like a lot of people get theirs sooner, though, so when can I really expect to get mine?
