Seriously, you guys need to "TakeITEasy" on us. I really like to help, it's something that makes me feel better, but I don't even know the specs and prices of the notebooks...

I don't know those, and Asus is always Asus, but WXGA+ on a 17" seems too small, don't you think? What is on that toshiba?
The asus is $2200, but It only has a X1600 and 120Gs of hard drive space. (but a faster processor than the toshiba)

The P105-s921 is an obsolete model now.. Get the P105-S9312 instead. Its the upgraded version of the P105-s921. (same price)
It has a 2.0 core duo (napa)
7900GS
2Gs of DDR2
200Gs of SATA hard drive space
and a great design!
all for 2grand. And you can get it for like 1650 on ebay if you look hard enough.

I'd say go for the toshiba

i only can say that asus W2 has much much much better build quality and material compared to toshiba.
toshiba now a days use very bad material and their buiild quailty is one of the worse if not for dell
anyway it;s just my humble opinion :P

Yes, that's why I said "Asus is always Asus", but we all avoid comparing systems by the brands themselves... You know, it's better to take it on a model basis.

And as an addition: I have some experience with Toshibas (Satellites and Satellites Pro), and all them had a terrible build quality. I know Satellites are conceived as a budget system, but their prices are not that low, as we are encouraged to believe!!!

Forget about the price,it's not a factor affecting my choice sincy they are about of the same cost...

The point is:

Asus Build Quality&TvTuner Vs Toshiba Better VGA CARD
post #9 of 21
Considering the x1600 is still a good card overall, I would take the Asus if the video performance is not that important.

What you will be doing with your computer? What games you think you will be playing?
x1600 can handle a lot
with the x1600 you can only get about medium-high settings in BF2 to have playable FPS (IMO which is about 40-50).

If you are a enthusiastic gamer I recomend you get a better ghpx card than a X1600.

Im a graphics whore (I have a AMD X2 4400+, BFG 7900GTX, 3gigs of ram, seagate SATA hard drive and a asus A8n-sli deluxe) and I dont play games AT ALL if I cant play them maxed out on 1280 x 1024, with anti-aliasing x 4. If you're anything like me, you wont be satisfied with a X1600. but if your a casual gamer that plays about 2-3 hours of games per week, its a smart choice.

If i were use windows laptop again, i'll definetlly choose the ASUS
but now i use Mac So Apple MAcBook Pro is my notebook

Anyway ASUS and Apple are the best build Quality notebook outthere and the both are made in the same ASUS Factory !!!

Well i am not a fanatic gamer..that's for sure..i usually play age of empires 3, strategy games, rome total war, need for speed once in a while, pro evolution soccer,of course i have my special moments where i would like to kill some beasts in Doom or Fear, but if X1600 can handle it,then i think i really don't need the 7900..Don't forget that i also have a desktop laptop where i can upgrade my poor 5700 to play all the games..

I think i'll go for Asus..Everyone has good things to say about its build quality..It's a shame it doesn't offer full keyboard, since i'll use Matlab,Office and generally mess a lot with numbers..

Well. what about the screen quality?? Do you think Asus has a brighter screen than Toshiba's??? It's a crucial point.. In my country, both brands offer a 2yr international guarante..
hmmm, i never see the "newer" toshiba screen with the super bright or whatever

but i own asus W1N and it about the same as the W27 the only difference is that mine is 15'4' and i must say the screen is quite good, my Macbook Pro is better, but the asus also didn't look to bad compared to it,
and definetlly the asus is way better than my Acer Ferrari screen.
Ok ive played rome total war @ almost max graphics and i get 45-55fps on x1600 256mb
