How many of you guyz use a tablet pc?

ok so i get to pick out a new notebook of some kind for work/school but im having a really hard time choosing. I really like the slate style tablet pc's but the only thing i am finding is a big downfall is the power. The slate style tablet i am looking at has this for the specs i chose: Pentium M-LV 1.6GHz, 1280MB RAM, 12.1" screen, detachable keyboard, 100Gig HD. which isnt too bad, and i know it all depends on what i plan on doing with the tablet. I plan on using Visual Studio '03 and/or '05, sql server, Photoshop CS2, things of that nature, now obviously im not going to be doing massive tasks on a 12.1 inch screen but i would like the power to do whatever i need to without slow downs.

So my question is, do those of you that have tablet pc's think that its worth the performace decrease for the abilty to write on the screen? and how often do you guys write on the screen, do u find it easier to just type most things?

the screen on the tablet is special (write and you can seem them almost in any condition ie outside with sun) and the fact that the battery life is crazy long is another advantage. there are some powerful tablet pcs out their that would be very suitable for what you will be using it for and their cost is not sky high either. i think is a better choice than most of the ultraportable laptops out there. fujitsu has some good tablet pcs

hardD i assume that you are referring to slates when you speak of lack of performance, as the convertible tablets are available w/ fast single and duo core procs and realtively decent gpus. if you really want the ability to write/draw/whatever on the screen, but want the faster proc and/or gpu definitely look at convertibles (e.g., gateway or toshiba's).

welll my tc4200 dont lack that much performance at all. 1.86ghz p mobile, 1g and 60g hd
