Simple question: What do you like about laptops?

I just discovered wireless internet (from my own connection) and I wish I did this when I was in school! Doing work in the backyard, surfing the internet with a breeze.

Sure, I have a powerful SFF desktop I can also bring outside, but the CRT monitor is a pain to carry.

Having the power of a desktop in the palms of my hands. I can get online where ever i want, i can do my work on the road, and stay connected to the world.

portability and greater performance than my (old) desktop (whose powersupply is fried (due to tinkering with it))

I can surf the Internet without wires.
I can show someone a movie without having them come to the monitor.
I don't have to worry about power cords all the time.
I can move from work to school to LAN parties without issues.
It is my DVD player.
It is my music player.
It is my space heater.

I like the way they look as apposed to a keyboard, monitor, mouse and tower. Its all in one piece of equipment, and looks more organized than all those peripherals scattered all over a desk.

It would have been pretty hard for me to haul a full tower + CRT when I got deployed

If I take it to a LAN, the only thing I need is the power adapter, ethernet cord and a mouse, as opposed to a case power cord, monitor power cord, monitor cable, mouse, keyboard, ethernet cable, headphones, etc
