My 700m pwrs up with a white screen after dropping 3 ft from bed onto carpet. VGA port to external lcd works good. The lcd is a samsung LTN121W1-L01 or Dell part Y4396 (20pin). I gather some replacements have truelife and others not and some have a 20 or 30 pin lcd. Please someone shed some light on this. Are the B121EW02 and B121EW01 AU Optronics lcd 20 or 30 pin and are the dell part#'s D5404 and W5382 compatible? Thanks in advance.

I have a simiar problem; I took off my keyboard on the 700m to clean it, put everything back together and now the screen is white with vertical stripes of different colors. It's white on the left side and the right side has the vertical colored stripes.
Not sure what happened, anyone here have an idea or am I better off sending it back to Dell to get it fixed?
Thanks

Well thanks for the replies, I have tried what you all have sugested and no luck so far. I think I will test the lcd cable next for a short. And Noskillz I called Dell replacement parts and pretended to be a small biz they said if I was approved a replacement lcd would be $530. Way to much.
Well just an update I tried another samsung lcd that came up for auction on ebay and it displayed correctly on half the screen. The other half was just black so I sent it back as a bad lcd. From my research so far it seems that there are to types of oem lcd cables K8923 aka wistron 50.43E04.101 which works with samsung LTN121W1-L01 and B121EW02. Then it appears Wistron 50.43E03.002 unknown dell part# works with all B121EW01. You can find pictures of the differences around and the most noticable difference is one has 15 wires and the other 13 and one has 5 red while the other 3. Mine was shipped about 4/15/05 so could this mean that everything after this date had the K8923 lcd cable with either the samsung or B121EW02 lcd. I update again once I purchase a B121EW02 and see if it works.

hey guys have one quick question. i also have 700m and it came with samsung LTN121W1 lcd. well my gf managed to crackit bad. looking for replacement. i have found B121EW01 for very good price (>100) from posts above i can tell that B121EW02 will replace my samsung but B121EW01 requires diferent cable is that correct? and if that is the case is it worth to get B121EW01 and try sorcing out the cable or just spend extra $100 and get B121EW02 or LTN121W1?

Just buy the original screen that you took out of the laptop. Try this

Thanks for the reply.
I am sorry I sounded ambiguous. I was referring to the LCD Video Cable which connects to the LCD at the back.
I am wondering the cable got damaged because of the power requirement difference in the two LCD panels.
Before hooking up the new LCD panel (AUO - B121EW02) the old work working fine except the cracked screen in the right bottom corner. After I attached the new panel, the new panel was glowing florescent light blue with no data coming on the screen. I smelled something burning.
I disconnected and put the old cracked screen back and now even that one behaved like the that...no data and bright light blue.
Did this happen because of the faulty new LCD screen or because of different power requirements?
What should be the next step?

Problem with AUO - B121EW02
Hi, aka_atl.Did you find what the problem was with the burning wire?
I ordered the same LCD (AUO - B121EW02) from Ebay and connected it. After trying to find what the smell was, I realized that the wires (two red wires on the outside) have burned (my finger as well
When I connected the original (no data but the light comes on), wires were barel warm to touch.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Boy, I am glad to hear that! So will the cable say it's for W02 version? There is a couple on sale on Ebay but doesn't say it's for B121EW02. Also, any chance that I've damaged the new LCD? It still turned on although showing bright white screen. Thanks a bunch!
